- Follow standard operating procedures as well as written and verbal orders and instructions in English.
- Lift up to 75 lbs. and be in good physical condition. Standing, bending, climbing, crawling, and lying on hard surfaces as well as upper body and back strength required.
- Follow all company policies and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, safety toed footwear, hardhats, and other required PPE per area.
- Able to work in a noisy environment.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Actively pursue cost reduction measures.
- Perform all assigned tasks within specific time limits and company standards.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Must comply with all safety regulations regarding the work area, the product and equipment. Recognize and report all safety discrepancies to your supervisor.
- Willing to develop a thorough knowledge of all aspects of this field including products, options, & uses.
- Ability to read and understand blue prints.
- Ability & willingness to be cross-trained in respective departments.
- Able to learn about parts and where they are used as well as the number required per assigned task.
- Communicate with department leaders when items run low in order to restock/reorder parts.
- Possess extensive experience from outside of the company or has mastered all the required skills at the previous level in order to advance.
- Can learn to plan efficient schedules for self and others.
- Willingness to share department and company knowledge as needed.
- Ability to write down information for future reference.
- Must be Forklift, Motored Palletized Jack, & Crane Operator Certified.
- Ability to immediately recognize and report quality issues to your supervisor/foreman.
Daily Functions:
- Must be able to complete daily functions for a Paint Tech I & Paint Tech II.
- Mix paint for each shop order as required. Maximum amount lifted 20-30lbs.
- Mask bodies and cabs. Requires climbing up and down ladders 1-2 hours per 10 hour shift.
- Use air hose to blow water off ladder sections.
- Some computer skills required.
- Ensure utilized paint materials used per truck are documented and uploaded into M2M materials cost reporting spreadsheet.
- Update and maintain weekly inventory spreadsheets and order accordingly.
- Demonstrate the ability to match colors for ROM's and Hansen door requests.
- Ability to document and upload approved/unapproved requests into the proper areas.
Potential Hazards:
- Eye injuries: required to wear eye protection and face shield when sanding to prevent eye injuries.
- Trips, slips, & falls: ensure all air hoses and obstacles are kept clear of aisles. Use caution when climbing on and off trucks. Make sure all ladders and step stools are used correctly and for their designed purpose. Wear skid resistant shoes during wipe down and clean up. Beware of spills and surroundings.
- Cuts & burns: Use caution and wear PPE to prevent cuts when sanding.
- Repetitive motion: know and make sure MSDS and HMIS is followed and protective clothing/equipment is worn. Wash hands well after using solvents.
- Air quality: paint vapors may affect respiratory system. Wear appropriate respirator.
- Dermatitis: results from paint and eye injury if paint splash occurs. Wear gloves and safety glasses while mixing.
