Job Summary
The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences as a Research Administrator.
In this position the candidate will work closely with department faculty and staff to provide budgeting, finance, and research administrative support for the School of Behavior and Brain Sciences in an active and growing research portfolio budget of $38M annually. Additionally, this role will assist in ensuring that compliance with all funding regulations, inclusive of Federal, State, and university requirements, are met to secure the department's long-term financial viability and stability.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Three (3) years relevant professional experience in research administration in a University research setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in higher education as well as experience with PeopleSoft
  • Previous experience in research administration, NIH policies, and Uniform Guidance
  • Active CFRA or CRA credential

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist PIs with processing and monitoring project expenditures by obtaining necessary financial reports, preparing and submitting programmatic reports, and assisting with budgetary forecasting; assist with reporting time and effort commitments.
  • Assist PIs to assure compliance with University policies and procedures, sponsor requirements, and the relevant laws and regulations in research regarding human subjects and animal care management.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between PIs and ORI and other University departments involved and grants administration, such as Procurement, Human Resources, and Budget Office, to process financial information.
  • Monthly review and reconciliation of all transactions posted to research cost centers for PI's approval to ensure all transactions are correct. Make the necessary corrections to expenses posted in error within the period allowed. Work with the owner of the source document to ensure understanding and future compliance.
  • Meet with faculty and other cost center managers to discuss the current state of spending on their accounts and projected expenses to avoid over or under-spending based on the annual or project budget available for the period.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other Grant and Contract Administrators and Departmental Research Administrators, as required or requested.
  • Work seamlessly with Post-Award team member(s) to provide excellent services to PIs and Department customers.
  • Keep abreast of University, State, and Federal purchasing and financial regulations and communicate with the University's financial and purchasing departments to ensure that duties in this area are performed correctly and in accordance with all applicable rules.
  • Participate in specialized training activities related to sponsored programs. Remain competent and current by attending professional development courses, software training classes, and courses and/or training sessions as directed by the supervisor or required by the University.
  • In consultation with the SFO, maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which incorporate the University policies and procedures for conducting the day-to-day duties.

Remote work for future availability:
After the probationary period of 6 months, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule at the discretion of the department and subject to business need and manager approval. Also, a remote work schedule will be based on the State of Texas policy regarding remote work. Must be located within the DFW area and available to be on campus within 24 hours of notice. UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
