The Market Performance Partnership (MPP) Internship Program in Owensboro, KY comprises of various service areas within our Optum Insight (OI) Provider Market team.

Candidates may be placed in one of the following service areas, depending on business needs and availability. While we will consider your service area preference, placement is not guaranteed. Interns will have the opportunity to work on various projects within their assigned service area:

All candidates must have experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and be willing to learn and be flexible with working onsite. During our 10-week internship program, you will gain meaningful work experience and exposure to the nation's leading health care company, while learning what a career at UnitedHealth Group will have in store for you. You will also be invited to experience our Minnesota Headquarters, an experience garnered toward networking and development. The goal of our internship is to put people first and stay true to our mission - helping people live healthier lives and helping the health system work better for everyone.

This is a Full-Time summer internship position working 40 standard business working hours Monday-Friday from June 3. 2025 - August 8, 2025

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Communicate analysis and interpretation to appropriate audience
  • Assisting team leads with various research projects pertaining to multiple content areas or business needs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives
  • Use relevant data to make fact-based decisions
  • Provide explanation and information to others on process improvement initiatives
  • Collect relevant information by pulling and analyzing data from multiple systems
  • Support team members with managing the development of products
  • Support team members with the planning, organization and direct the completion of a project

Required Qualifications:



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university during the internship Internships are not intended for graduating seniors
  • IT Route: Currently pursuing an IT career path or has taken some IT classes
  • Account Management Route: Experience managing or assisting with projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
  • Proven solid customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work the full time standard business working hours during the duration of the internship
  • Ability to work in-office 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) in Owensboro, KY
  • Revenue Cycle Management Route: Proven flexible to work on various projects as needed.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Relevant healthcare business related experience including Epic Software and Revenue Cycle Management
  • Epic Route: Epic experience/knowledge



The hourly range for this role is $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
