ISO New England's Forecast & Outage Coordination team is focused, passionate, team-oriented, and results-driven. We play an important role in ensuring a clean and reliable energy future for the region and are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will provide both functional and technical expertise for projects and assignments related to Forecast & Outage Coordination Applications. The ideal candidate should have experience in application development, systems integration, and testing with strong programming skills in .NET or C#. Hands-on experience with AWS services, Kubernetes, DevOps, GitOps, and Docker technologies is preferred.

How you will make an impact:



  • Analyze, design, program/develop, test, troubleshoot, and implement applications and fixes associated with Load Forecast & Outage Coordination Applications
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform complex technical assignments related to software applications in support of the Operations, Load Forecast, and Outage Scheduling groups.
  • Integrate software solutions across multiple applications, systems, and databases
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in production support to various internal and external-facing Forecast & Outage Coordination applications
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and obtain clear understanding of business owner needs and concerns, and translate them into effective and efficient solutions
  • Direct the installation of fixes, enhancements, and upgrades to supported systems



What you need to be successful in this role:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Strong software development experience using multiple programming languages, including .NET or C#
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a Team Lead
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to participate in the on-call rotation, which may include working hours outside of the standard schedule
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (including ability to work on multiple and concurrent projects)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Desired, but not required:

    • Master's degree or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
    • Working knowledge of Java, Oracle, SQL development and RDBMS systems
    • Good understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture is preferred, hands-on experience with Kubernetes, DevOps, GitOps, and Docker technologies is preferred
    • Working experience in Electric Utilities, ISOs, or RTOs is a plus
