Position Description

Your Opportunity

TechSource is hiring a full-time Senior Independent Oversight Specialist to support the Department of Energy Office of Enterprise Assessments (DOE-EA). DOE-EA performs independent assessments for DOE senior leadership that report on whether national security material and information assets are appropriately protected and whether Departmental operations provide for the safety of its employees and the public. These assessments provide compliance and performance feedback to DOE leadership, Congress, and senior managers, ensuring effective program implementation. EA also offers a "rapid response" capability to quickly evaluate and address urgent security, safety, and operational concerns. You will work onsite at DOE's Forrestal building in Washington, DC. This is a proposal we're pursuing.

What You Will Do


  • Advise DOE leadership on safeguards and security, cyber security, emergency management, nuclear safety, and environment, safety, and health (ES&H) programs.
  • Lead and perform organizational reviews, self-assessments, and critical evaluations for improvements in organizational performance.
  • Provide technical input to solve complex problems faced by federal and line management regarding safeguards, security, nuclear safety, and ES&H programs.
  • Prepare and present reports to various management audiences.
  • Some travel will be required (30%).

What You Will Need


  • Active DOE Q or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or security management.
  • 15 years of government or commercial experience, with at least 10 years of experience in the safety or security fields involving high value security interests or nuclear and hazardous materials.
  • Experience managing safeguards and security, cyber security, emergency management, nuclear safety, and environment, safety and health programs.
  • DOE/NNSA or DoD program experience required.
  • Detailed knowledge of DOE missions, sites, operations, facilities, and organizational roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply expertise to support DOE mission objectives and initiatives, including use of technical experts to help federal and contractor line management identify solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to provide technical advice to DOE managers on the operation of a national-level inspection and enforcement program.
  • Develop reports and presentations to present to DOE leadership.
