DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Architectural Consultant, you will be providing architectural design, design review, technical consulting, and related professional services for construction projects at historic sites and museums. This position is responsible for planning and managing projects on some of Pennsylvania's most important historic sites, ensuring they tell the history of Pennsylvania and are in good condition for the visiting public. Work involves overseeing renovation and new construction projects for conformance and compliance with current building codes and standards for the treatment of historic properties. You will have the opportunity to visit project sites to collect information as well as develop design drawings and specifications for each assigned project. Additional responsibilities include:
- Coordinating work with staff
- Reviewing design documents and project work assignments
- Managing projects designed by DGS (Department of General Services)
- Compiling detailed cost estimates

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Architectural Designer 2; or
- Three years of professional architectural experience in building renovation or preservation and new construction for commercial, institutional, government, or educational buildings or structures, and a bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or a closely related field which included major course work in architectural design; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires active licensure as a registered architect by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction; or an active certification as issued by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
