QA Lab Incoming Materials Specialist

We are currently seeking a QA Lab/Incoming Material Specialist to join our organization. The Specialist's responsibilities will include:
Primary Job Duties:


  • Retrieve, prepare and mail samples for testing by third party laboratory
  • Research manufacturing process for certain products from commodities to finished goods shipment
  • Receive, log and test juice products
  • Perform periodic target roaster inspections and evaluations for specific customers (includes mailing of samples to other roasters and managing international shipments)
  • Maintain in-house databases for lot reporting etc.
  • Create and maintain COAs (Certificates of Analysis)
  • Prepare samples for target cupping by management (includes documentation, setup, brewing and pulling/preparing samples)
  • Participate with management personnel in SQF required audits (GMPs, HACCP, Pest Control etc.)
  • Prepare product specifications and other customer requested documents including nutritional data on an as needed basis
  • Sample, evaluate, and document incoming materials (ingredients, packaging, labels) and report concerns/non-conformances
  • Collect samples which may include but are not limited to: raw materials, finished products, and ingredients
  • Assist in the evaluation and disposition of all samples. Including logging samples and various lab duties associated with sample evaluation
  • Maintain & log of all inspections and share weekly report of findings. Develop and report external logistics performance results
  • Follows all policies, procedures, standards, and safety requirements


Secondary Job Duties:


  • Inspect the set-up of all packing lines and grinders at the beginning of the day, verifying the readings and recording the results
  • Verify, inspect and record grinder/dump executions and packing line changes
  • Perform quality checks (roast color, % moisture, grind analysis, dust content, weights, etc.) of product soon after a grinder/packing line has undergone an item change
  • Document results of quality checks
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods for proper disposition and notify QA Supervisor Visually inspect returned goods delivered by warehouse and, if necessary, perform analysis on goods and record results
  • Determine disposition of certain returned goods
  • Receive and analyze certain customer complaints
  • Actively participate in SQF/GMP improvement activities
  • Retrieve production samples (after deemed acceptable) of each blend and forward to Core Tea Lab for further analysis
  • Log blend change samples and quality issues for ISO purposes
  • Ensure physical blend "target" samples are properly maintained and updated
  • Perform general daily housekeeping in work area to maintain a quality/safe working environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management



Qualifications:


  • Two years QA experience in manufacturing/production setting
  • Experience with standard laboratory equipment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to professionally communicate with all levels within the organization and customers as needed
  • Intermediate knowledge of basic Windows software applications (Access, Outlook, Word & Excel).
  • Proven track record of responsibility and reliability
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
