Video: What We Do

This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing electronic components and systems within the production facilities.

Some overtime and weekend hours will be required on occasion to meet production and project schedules. An on-call rotating schedule may also be implemented for weekend and overnight coverage as needed. Limited travel may be required in support of training program and new equipment purchases and installations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Diagnosing and repairing problems with electronic controls and associated systems relative to industrial equipment operations. This includes Motor Controls, Programmable Controls, CNC Controls, Relay Logic, Power Supplies and other various controls and assemblies.
  • Design and development of circuits and assemblies to assist in troubleshooting and to repair or improve reliability, service ability and capability of production equipment.
  • Accountability for the documentation of test results, method of repair and maintenance history.
  • Collaborating with vendor service representatives to resolve system design deficiencies.
  • Performing calibrations on electronic/electrical devices per supervisory instruction as part of the plants existing calibration control program.
  • Install equipment to manufacturer specifications and test for proper performance.
  • Maintain equipment and keep records of maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and power transmission systems using multimeters, pressure/vacuum/flow gauges, and temperature /humidity recording gauges to known historical standards to insure proper performance.
  • Interface with other departments and advise of maintenance procedures or equipment malfunctions, which would affect that department's operations.
  • Assist in general electrical maintenance of production and facilities equipment.
  • Support the development of preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for electrical systems.
  • Assist in the general mechanical maintenance of production and facility equipment.
  • Assist in the general production for processing of customer parts when necessary.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 to 5 years' prior employment in a maintenance / electronics field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Additional Education, Training, Certifications, or Licenses that are applicable will be considered and may be used to supersede either of the other two requirements.
  • Previous PLC experience, knowledge, and training in following ladder logic to identify cause of faults.
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs and associated equipment. Robotic system programming, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Experience programming and setting up SCADA systems is highly sought skill.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial networking systems like TCP/IP is highly sought.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence either in digital or handwritten formats.
  • Be able to perform basic mathematical functions with decimals, fractions, or percentages. Convert numbers from scientific notation to decimal form. Convert units of measurement between English and Metric systems.
  • Basic understanding of common scientific principles like energy, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Proficiently reads and interprets electronic drawings and schematics.
  • Experience and understanding of calibration processes.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Climb stairs multiple times during a shift Work from ladders or lifts on the shop floor. Possess the manual dexterity to build or assemble small components with hand / pneumatic tools. Some repetitive motions are required to perform these tasks (i.e., turning a wrench, cutting wire). Lift floor to waist level - 35 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder level - 35 lbs. Carry on shop floor - 35 lbs. Some job functions will require wearing a SAR (Supplied-Air Respirator) while performing some tasks. Some job functions may require entering of a permitted confined space.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat, sharp objects, and moving mechanical parts. Proper and functioning PPE, Machine guarding, and interlocking are designed into the process for employee protection, but employee awareness to hazards and controls is essential to maintaining a safe work environment for you and your co-workers. Some tasks may introduce additional hazards associated with respiratory and skin irritants, asphyxiation, fall hazards, and electrical hazards including electrical shock or arc flash.

Where applicable, employees will be provided adequate training, PPE, and procedures to protect against these hazards. Generally, the work environment is maintained at a controlled temperature and humidity for comfortable working conditions, however, some tasks are performed in isolated areas where wet or humid conditions may exist.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but if performing work in areas deemed high noise areas, hearing protection will be supplied and required while in the designated area.

The EB-PVD Coater is a source of ionizing radiation. The machine design incorporates shielding to contain radiation so that exposure to employees in normal operating conditions is below background levels. To mitigate risk from accidental releases, employees may be required to wear a radiation monitor (dosimeter) while present on the coater platform. Radiation awareness training will be required of all employees that may work on the platform.

Standard shop floor PPE requirements will be enforced as well. As a minimum this includes eye protection and steel-toed shoes. Other requirements may be added by EHS based on hazard surveys and potential in isolated areas.
