Weston is seeking a Chemist/Transportation Manager to be responsible for reviewing and characterizing (i.e., identifying and assigning all applicable regulations) for the waste/material submitted for disposition. The Chemist/Transportation Manager is responsible for preparing the necessary shipping paperwork and forms in compliance with applicable federal, state, DOT, DOE, and RCRA regulations and coordinating shipments of waste/material. The Chemist/Transportation Manager's duties include but are not limited to:

* Identifying and assigning all regulations and requirements applicable to each waste/material (e.g., EPA waste codes, DOT shipping descriptions, etc.) utilizing the on-site electronic information and tracking system.

* Reviewing all waste/material submitted on disposition requests (DRs) for sufficient information and researching additional technical information, as necessary.

* Preparing Land Disposal Restriction (LDR) notification/certification forms for shipments.

* Preparing required and accurate shipping documents.

* Identifying applicable labeling and marking requirements.

* Schedule and coordinate transportation for shipments.

* Communicating transportation issues to Weston on-site Contractor Manager and client personnel and collaborating on development of appropriate mitigation or resolution of transportation issues.

* Interface with on-site waste generator in support of completion of shipping documents.

Desired Skills, Education, and Other Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or related science field from an accredited post-secondary institution.

* Three (3) years of experience working with hazardous or mixed waste.

* HAZWOPER 40-hour or 24-hour training and current 8-hour refresher training.

* Two (2) years of experience coordinating shipments of hazardous or mixed waste.

* Three (3) years of experience with DOT regulations.

* Current Advanced Radioactive and Mixed Waste Shipper Certification Training or equivalent

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong team building skills and attitude

* Solid technical skill set, including proficiency with Excel, Word and Access

* Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.

* Experience in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.

* Advanced RCRA Regulation Training.

* Experience with RCRA Hazardous and Mixed Waste Minimization opportunities.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range: $67,343-$88,868-$110,290
