What you will do:

We are seeking an embedded platform architect who will have a leading role in design and development of embedded reusable electronic core circuits and platforms successfully

There are a number of embedded electronic devices present thought out the building infrastructure which help make all of our smart systems function properly within a building. We are building upon out a platform centric approach to FW/OS/BSP/HW architecture so that we enable a standardized set of core features and capabilities which span several product families. To successfully continue to evolve the platform to meet new needs and upgrades we are looking for your expertise to architect and implement these improvements. This would include overseeing execution of the design and test and release of those functions in our shared code space. This is a key role spanning many product lines globally and requires broad understanding system design, proficiency in firmware driver development, protocols, abstraction layers, and electronic circuit functionality.

How will you do it:

  • Works with global colleagues across JCI to understand and/or establish technology strategies and how they can be supported.

  • Responsible for Embedded software Platform, feature/function development, cyber-security related software and lifecycle maintenance for platforms.

  • Owns the stewardship of the product and core platform code base throughout its lifecycle.

  • Drive platforming and standardization across the portfolio along with the associated governance practices to institutionalize and sustain the practices.

  • Works with leaders from across the business to leverage technology development, share best practices, lessons learned, playbook to improve efficiency of migration to JCI standard platforms.

  • Ensures appropriate practices are in place to enable us to meet or exceed customer, user, and business requirements defined for the platforms.

  • Provide Architecture and technical leadership in partitioning the main features and functions of targeted set of products.

  • Defining the most commonly recurring sets of features and taking action to design solutions which meet the core capabilities and address some level of optionality so that the feature set is broadly reusable.

  • Participate in cross functional (product, software, firmware, hardware, manufacturing) teams to facilitate tight integration of the platforms and subcircuits into the products that use them.

  • Review and understand product roadmaps and key technology drivers so that we understand when new capabilities will have to be enabled in the platform portfolio.

  • Participate in system development activity to assure our design platforms and design blocks are technically sound and we meet requirements and compliance standards which apply to them (CE, UL, FCC, etc).

  • Provide innovative leadership in product development process improvements and refinements particularly as they apply to FW platform and partitioning of the functions to maximize their reusability across the product portfolio.

  • Fosters an environment of integrity and high ethical standards that aligns with the company's Core Values

What we look for:

  • B.S. - Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related such as Biomedical, Computer Science if significant hands-on experience in industrial/commercial electronic based c product D&D is required.

  • M.S. - Highly desired

  • 10+ Years direct involvement with embedded microprocessor-based PCBAs (for applications in industrial automation, commercial equipment, automotive, medical).

  • Experience in software product development including engineering leadership experience associated with architecture, design, implementation and testing

  • Demonstrated ability to Architect and design MCU and MPU embedded code (OS/BSP/Drivers) in a shared repository for reuse.

  • Developing Linux products required (with Yacto distro preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal & leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others

  • Demonstrated competence in partnering with remote development teams both domestically and internationally.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the product teams from requirements gathering though realization and adoption into product D&D roadmap.

  • Several Years experience leading Embedded SW engineering team.
