Description

To utilize a variety of reprographics equipment in order to provide effective document reproduction services; to staple, collate, fold and prepare documents as assigned; to provide effective customer service at assigned counter area; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the entry level class in the Reprographics Technician series. This class is distinguished from the Senior Reprographics Technician by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including stapling, collating and preparing documents for final production.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision an assigned supervisor.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Operate a variety of reprographics equipment in order to provide effective document reproduction services for customers including copiers, 3-hole punchers, collators and power staplers.
  2. Prepare, fold and sort bound copies, books, handouts, flyers and other documents; check documents for appearance and clarity; prepare half-fold, tri-fold and z-fold documents both by hand and using assigned equipment.
  3. Forward price sheet estimates to appropriate District departments, divisions and offices.
  4. Answer the telephone and respond to questions and inquiries; refer callers to other College staff as necessary; contact instructors as needed; send faxes as requested by customers.
  5. Participate in cleaning and maintaining reprographics equipment; contact vendors for the repair of severe malfunctions.
  6. Maintain various files and records for our customers order history through our print ordering system.
  7. Participate in maintaining an accurate inventory of reprographics materials; recommend additional purchases for assigned reprographics needs.
  8. Participate in training and supervising student workers; check work for accuracy and clarity.
  9. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:
  • Basic operational characteristics of a variety of reprographics equipment.
  • Principles and practices of filing and record keeping.
  • Modern office procedures and equipment including computers.
  • Basic principles and practices of customer service.
  • Basic principles of inventory control.
Ability to :
  • Prepare materials and documents using a variety of reprographics equipment.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records.
  • Respond to requests from faculty and students.
  • Prepare materials according to established specifications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff.
  • Sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; operate assigned equipment; lift 50 pounds; bend, stoop, and kneel.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education:
Completion of the twelfth grade or the equivalent.
Experience :
One (1) year of reprographics or duplicating experience.
