Sr. Site Reliability Engineer II - Network, Infrastructure Services
Our Team

The Infrastructure Services team builds and maintains the backbone of HashiCorp's cloud products. We focus on creating reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure services that enable engineering teams to transition quickly without breaking things. Instead of just keeping the lights on, we're constantly improving automation, reducing toil, and making infrastructure more self-service and developer-friendly.

We work with Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform, and AWS services to power HashiCorp's cloud offerings. Our mission is to provide infrastructure that's easy to use, resilient, and secure by default so product teams can focus on delivering great experiences to customers.

About this Role

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer II focusing on network engineering, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of HashiCorp's AWS-based cloud networking infrastructure. You will work across multiple teams to ensure seamless connectivity, scalability, and security of network services that support our cloud platforms. This role requires deep expertise in AWS networking, robust architectural leadership, and the ability to drive technical roadmaps and process improvements.

You will play a key role in evolving our AWS networking strategy, improving service discovery and connectivity using tools like Consul, and ensuring network reliability, performance, and observability at scale. This position is ideal for a highly skilled engineer who can own complex networking initiatives, mentor others, and influence technical direction.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS networking infrastructure to support HashiCorp's cloud products
  • Lead large-scale networking projects, ensuring alignment with business and operational goals
  • Define and implement network reliability strategies to improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance
  • Optimize AWS networking configurations, including VPC design, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Route 53, ALBs/NLBs, and security groups
  • Improve service networking and service discovery using Consul and related tools
  • Enhance network security through zero-trust principles, encryption strategies, and IAM-based access controls
  • Develop automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows using Terraform
  • Identify, diagnose, and address complex network issues
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers working on networking and infrastructure
  • Advocate for improvements to technical roadmaps, network reliability best practices, and operational efficiencies
  • Stay current with AWS networking advancements and evaluate new features to improve infrastructure resilience
  • Participate in and lead technical hiring efforts, conducting interviews and mentoring candidates

You may be a good fit for our team if you:

  • Have extensive experience in AWS networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Route 53, ALBs/NLBs, and security groups
  • Are proficient in service networking and service discovery using Consul or similar tools
  • Have experience implementing network security best practices, including IAM-based access controls, VPC security, and encryption strategies
  • Experienced in network automation and infrastructure as code, using Terraform
  • Have a solid background in troubleshooting and optimizing network performance in cloud environments
  • Have a track record of leading large-scale AWS networking initiatives, influencing architecture and best practices
  • Can identify issues, foresee technical tradeoffs, and make data-driven decisions to improve network reliability and performance
  • Enthusiastic about mentorship and fostering technical growth in a distributed team environment
  • Have experience working in a high-scale, AWS-native environment where networking is critical for reliability and performance
