Statesboro Campus 1332 Southern Drive Statesboro, GA 30458 Department Information Within this setting, the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies houses the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. Our innovative program offers two flexible tracks (Hybrid and Executive), with specialized courses in public and nonprofit management. The Hybrid Track blends online and in-person instruction, while the Executive Track is fully online with courses delivered in an abbreviated format. The department also offers three online undergraduate minors in public administration, public policy, and nonprofit management. Being fully committed to the advancement of public service education, the department continues to expand its curricular offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The faculty focus on high-quality, student-centered undergraduate and graduate education, maintain robust research agenda, and engage in impactful service within the University (including a strong commitment to student mentoring), the profession, and the community. Job Summary Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies, the Assistant Professor of Public Administration position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching, a rigorous research program, and participation in service responsibilities. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Public Administration, Public Policy, or Public Affairs, by August 1, 2025. Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ability to teach effectively across modalities, including web-based and in-person instruction. Willingness to engage in funded and applied research. Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives. Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline. Preferred Qualifications The successful candidate will have research and teaching interests in public management, broadly defined. A focus on local/regional government, urban/regional planning, community and/or economic development, budgeting and finance, human resource management, or a combination of areas is preferred. Previous practitioner experience is desirable to support teaching needs in the MPA Executive Track. An MPA and/or ability to teach in one or more of the general areas of Public Administration and contribute to the concentration in public management. The successful candidate will be able to tailor their instruction to meet student needs. Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
