The Position

Senior Project Manager Facilities & Engineering

Location: SSF Site Operations (Dixon and SSF Campuses)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Management and Coordination:

    • Support for Design and Construction Organization:

      • Act as a key member of the project team from conceptual design to ensure seamless handover to Facility Operations.

    • Project Size Range:

      • Responsible for supporting projects ranging in cost from $100,000 to $10,000,000.

    • Reviews and Documentation:

      • Review documents such as User Requirement Briefs (URB), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Commissioning reports.

    • Start-Up Activities:

      • Support new systems and equipment start-up activities, including witnessing commissioning activities as the "owner".

    • Scheduling and Coordination:

      • Schedule Site Operations attendees for new equipment/system training and assist in scheduling shutdowns with end users.

    • Ownership Responsibility for Turn Over Package (TOP):

      • Take ownership of the Turn Over Package (TOP) requirements and ensure all necessary components are accepted by the Facilities Specialist.

    • Project Handover Governance Process:

      • Resolve roadblocks or escalate issues, if necessary, using the Project Handover Governance Process.

    • Support multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and performing the work under limited direction.

    • Provide guidance and monitor the work activities for service providers responsible for drafting maintenance plans, work instructions, and LOTO's for the projects.

    • Liaison Role:

      • Enable communications and act as liaison between the Design and Construction Project Manager, Site Operations, and Key Stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and handover.

    • Understand and adhere to codes, administrative orders, and other operational guidelines and directives.

  • Dixon Campus Operational Leadership and Management:

    • Provide operational, technical, and compliance leadership within the SSF Site Operations FOM organization.

    • Oversee and coordinate Facilities and Engineering operations for the Dixon Campus to ensure that gRED Lab Animal Research and Molecular Biology stakeholders needs are fully met.

    • Drive IFM service provider performance and ensure operational excellence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

    • Implement a culture of safety, ingrained quality, customer service and innovation.

    • Support incident response and Business Continuity efforts.

Requirements:

  • BS or BA in an Engineering / Facility related field or Project Management or substantial relative experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with facilities management, utilities operations, maintenance program management and laboratory equipment maintenance.

  • Ability to perform duties as needed at both the Dixon California and San Francisco Campuses. This includes being on-call 24x7 to support emergency facility issues and incidents involving critical business continuity response.

  • Experience working on large capital projects and being part of the project team.

  • Ability to review project construction drawings and provide evolving design comments.

  • Expert knowledge of utility equipment, including large chillers, steam boilers, air handling, air compressors and pumping systems desired.

  • Experience with regulated environments (e.g. USDA, GMP) maintenance operations, document control processing and repair is desired. Strong familiarity with local, state and Federal statutes and regulations (OSHA, NFPA Fire Standards, County/State hazardous materials and waste; and air quality management district requirements)

  • Skilled in reading and evaluating design drawings, P&IDs, plans, specifications and technical schematics strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma business process improvement methodology is strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills including the ability to effectively present proposed plans and results to management.

  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills are essential to facilitate the work of cross-functional and interdepartmental teams.

  • Preferred experience working in the life sciences industry highly.

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven track record of developing practical solutions for a variety of complex problems and initiatives.

  • Knowledge of applicable environmental health statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, codes, administrative orders and other operational guidelines and directives desired.

  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.

  • Deep knowledge of stakeholder requirements and passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Strong, demonstrated record for technical problem-solving.

  • Effective at adapting in a variety of organizational settings; including partnering with our science and veterinary stakeholders to acting as a lead expert for Facilities Engineering and core member on Design and Construction teams.

  • Must be dependable, attention to details, and proficient in coordination tasks.

  • Ability to work with minimum or no supervision.

  • This role requires the candidate to work in SSF campus (min 1 day a week)

This combined role is designed to leverage the strengths and expertise from both the Sr Project Operations Coordinator and the Campus Operations Manager responsibilities and qualifications; with a strong emphasis on project management and coordination, while maintaining operational excellence and customer satisfaction through compliance, communication and leadership.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $111,800 - 207,600 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
