Job Description:



  • To perform a variety of inventory control functions including receiving, sorting, and issuing materials, tools, supplies, parts, and equipment used in District operations; to deliver requested materials to appropriate District offices; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.


Inventory Control Technician:



  • This is the entry level class in the Inventory Control Technician series. Employees have only limited or no directly related work experience. This class is distinguished from the Inventory Control Technician II by performing the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series under immediate supervision while learning to perform the full range of responsibilities as assigned.
  • Advancement to the " II " level is based on demonstrated proficiency in performing the assigned functions, and is at management's discretion.


Role & Responsibilities:



  • The duties specified below are representative of the nature and level of duties assigned to this class and are not intended to be an inclusive list. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions.
  • Unpack materials, supplies, tools, and equipment; verify articles received against packing lists and purchase orders; store articles in established bins, on racks, shelves, floors, or at yard sites.
  • Inspect incoming materials for wear, damage, or defects; count or weigh articles; notify proper staff if repairs or adjustments are required.
  • Fill orders from requisition forms; issue tools, parts, and other technical materials and equipment in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Operate a variety of material handling equipment including a delivery truck or van and a forklift; load and unload equipment and supplies from trucks; travel to various District offices to deliver requested supplies.
  • Use electronic system to access inventory and related information; apply code numbers to materials and equipment from existing code system; label items for storage.
  • Post and maintain records of stock received and issued; assist in filing receiving reports and requisitions.
  • Maintain the stock area, warehouse, and other work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform a variety of general administrative duties supporting inventory control operations
  • Employees have a responsibility for safety; for following safety regulations and safety policies and procedures applicable to their work.
  • Pursuant to California Government Code Section 3100, all public employees are required to serve as disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them by their supervisors or by law.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
