Qualifications

Loan Originators will be required to originate on behalf of the Bank, within Representative's assigned territory, residential mortgage loans to be made by the Bank in connection with purchase and refinancing of owner-occupied or non-owner occupied one-to-four family residential dwellings, except cooperative residences. In addition, mortgage applications for home improvement and home equity lending. Representatives shall also solicit such other types of proposed loans as may be authorized in writing from time to time by the Bank. Position Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:00am - 5:00pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise the loan customer about the risks and benefits of various loan program alternative as a result of the financial information they have provided; and place the customer in the program most suitable to their needs and qualifications. Representative shall solicit loan applications from prospective borrowers, real estate brokers and agents, builders, developers, attorneys, title insurance agencies and such other persons and/or entities which may be a referral source for such loans.
- Regularly visit real estate brokers and agents, builders, developers, attorneys, title insurance agencies and such other persons and/or entities to explain new mortgage products offered by Ulster Savings Bank and maintain good business relations.
- Representative shall solicit loan applications from prospective borrowers, real estate brokers and agents, builders, developers, attorneys, title insurance agencies and such other persons and/or entities which may be a referral source for such loans.
- Represent Ulster Savings Bank and its subsidiaries in the field and keep the Bank abreast of changes in the market and new market developments.
- Develop new relationships with real estate brokers, attorneys and financial planners who will assist in originating mortgage brokers. Keep the real estate brokers abreast of mortgage applicant's status, production numbers, timely commitment or rejection of their files.
- Deliver quality applications to processing and underwriting. Complete all information necessary to efficiently serve the customer and use discretion and independent judgment in placing the customer in the correct lending program to meet their needs.
- Obtain all pertinent data concerning the transaction relating to each loan application.
- Market to loan applicants products of the Bank's subsidiaries which relate to such loans, including, but not limited to, casualty and property insurance, title insurance and other financial services, and shall assist said subsidiaries in the delivery of such products.
- Maintain and submit complete records of all loan solicitations made by Representative.
- Rate locks, registrations must be completed accurately, timely and in compliance with deadlines.
- Follow and familiarize yourself with all policies and procedures outlined in the lending manual and by lending policies.
- Attend all on the-job or off-site training courses as may be requested from time to time by the Bank.
- Abide and comply with all applicable federal and state lending laws and regulations.
- Perform such other or further duties as Ulster Savings Bank may assign.
- Bi-lingual is a plus.
- Regularly visit and build a relationship with all of the local nonprofits (including but not limited to RUPCO, PathStone, Hudson River Housing, Habitat for Humanity, Neighborworks, Patterns for Progress)
- Regularly visit and build a relationship with local community groups (including but not limited to churches, community centers, community groups.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to travel.
- Computer skills (Encompass, Word, Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to analyze data and exercise discretion and judgment in making decisions which affect the Bank and or its subsidiaries.
- Ability to interpret government regulations and mortgage loan documents.
- Ability to promote the Bank's financial products and services and advise as to the appropriate financial product(s) to correspond to their financial needs.
- Time management skills.
Essential Requirments:
- Minimum three (3) years prior experience
- Be registered with the NMLS and must adhere to the requirements of the SAFE Act
- Ability to work independently and prospect new business within the market area
- Travel is essential
