The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia's (UVA) School of Medicine, is currently seeking applicants for a Biorepository technician. The person in this position will support human biospecimen procurement, database management, and specimen shipment in support of a National Cancer Institute grant for the Cooperative Human Tissue Network, a multi-institutional biospecimen consortium. Duties will include working with UVA Medical Center staff in the procurement of human tissue and biofluid specimens, coordination with the CHTN and UVA Biorepository staff in filling requests from investigators across the country, managing processing fees, packaging biospecimen shipments on accordance with all shipping regulations and arranging shipment pickups with couriers and data entry into biorepository databases. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience.Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
