What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time environmental scientist in Bellingham, Washington to support our local and regional teams with data collection, data analysis, contaminated media investigations, environmental risk assessment, and toxicology. The position will also involve similar support to other risk assessment adjacent projects. The applicant will have 8-15 years of experience in working on projects involving site investigation (both in-field and in-office planning) and environmental data analysis, with a preferred focus in environmental risk assessment. Experience with aquatic risk assessments conducted as part of a collaborative effort with environmental engineers is preferred. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow and is a quick learner, detail-oriented, and a committed team player.

Responsibilities:



  • Preparation of risk assessments and risk-related work products. Responsibilities include technical oversight; strategy; team assignments and coordination; client interaction; scope, schedule, and budget management; and production of deliverables.
  • Planning and executing field programs to collect water, sediment, and biota data to support site investigations
  • Preparing and/or overseeing analytical data analysis.
  • Development of risk assessment and/or general site investigation cost estimates.
  • Technical writing related to preparation of screening level and baseline risk assessments, remedial investigations, scopes of work, field sampling work plans, and reports.
  • Communicating with other project team members including internal staff and external partners (e.g., laboratories, subcontractors, teaming partners).
  • Mentor and train junior staff on risk assessment, data analysis, writing, and project management.
  • Travel to support projects and field work up to 10% of time.



What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:



  • B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental science, toxicology, or related field.
  • 8-15 years of professional experience.
  • Strong task management skills for multi-disciplinary projects that involve risk assessment or risk-related evaluations.
  • Experience working on projects involving contaminated sediments and benthic risk evaluations.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis applied for environmental data evaluation.
  • Experience with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Washington State Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA)/Sediment Management Standards (SMS) regulations and application to various stages of an environmental investigation project.
  • Experience working on multi-office and/or multi-consultant teams preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Excel).
  • Experience with Python or R is beneficial.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to be trained.

Salary and Other Compensation:



  • Salary Range: $79,870 to $89,000 annually
  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.



Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
