Job Description
Role and Responsibilities

The Quality Technician will play an integral role in the Quality Assurance department by maintaining quality standards by inspecting incoming product, in-process production and finished product; recording, interpreting, and reporting inspection results; and support daily operations of the department. The candidate must be able to accurately follow written procedures and use inspection equipment in compliance with APT Quality Management System.


  • Inspects incoming, in-process production, and finished goods by confirming specifications through visual and dimensional tests per part inspection plans
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs
  • Document and communicates quality inspection failures (out of tolerance or out of control conditions) to Supervisors
  • Use and read common measuring devices (tapes, caliper, etc.) to complete product inspections
  • Read and follow detailed blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and other applicable documents to determine inspection standards
  • Audit and assess quality documentation for accuracy and recommend improvements
  • Assist with training new inspectors as necessary
  • Work to ensure ongoing success of company housekeeping and organization objectives
  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of APT
  • Performs other assigned duties to achieve the goals of the department and company


Qualifications and Education Requirements

A successful candidate must be a team-oriented person with good communication skills. A successful candidate must be able to excel at the following:


  • Associates Degree in Quality Assurance related field or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic mathematic skills
  • Ability to read and understand production documents, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Strong problem-solving skills to make sound technical decisions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, and listening skills
  • Comfortable working with computer-based inspection programs and logs


Preferred Skills

  • 2-3 years minimum experience in Quality Assurance/Control
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with ISO quality management systems or other similar quality management systems


Physical Demands*:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Excellent vision
  • Stand for extended periods of time


Work Environment:

The work environment is a fast paced, manufacturing job-shop. A variety of chemical baths are used on manufacturing floor daily and proper care and focus must be taken to ensure safety. Communication and teamwork are highly valued within the company as well as the push for continual improvement.
