Your internship with Fishbeck will provide you with knowledge and real-world experience to prepare you for a career in Survey and Civil Engineering. Our survey field crews utilize the latest technology in Robotic Total Station, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Terrestrial Laser Scanning to collect and prepare data to create boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and as-built surveys.
Primary Functions
- Adjust and operate surveying instruments.
- Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction, using engineering plans.
- Operate computerized data collection.
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Employees will need to be able to walk, climb, and maneuver outdoors to conduct field surveys; lift and carry survey equipment; and operate company motor vehicle to travel to work sites. Outdoor work in inclement weather is necessary. Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in person, in writing, and over the phone. Indoor work involves using a computer and other standard office equipment, sitting, standing, and light lifting.
Desired Education/Licensure
Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a Survey Engineering, Survey Technology, or Civil Engineering program.
Desired Skills/Experience
- Basic survey skills.
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Micro Station experience, preferably in the land development industry.
- Ability to learn basic design concepts and technical calculations.
- GPS knowledge is a plus.
- Possess valid driver's license.
- Must be available for occasional travel, long hours, and occasional weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
