The Salvation Army Midland Division Alton Shelter located in Alton, IL, is looking for a Client Services Coordinator. This individual will The Client Services complete the initial intake on incoming residents, maintain case files, obtain information from clients as needed, and maintain the data base, which includes client data entry, maintaining statistics for monthly reporting, gathering in-house stats for number of meals, bed nights, community referrals, and other grant reporting obligations.

This is a full-time, exempt position, 40 hours per week, pay is $16.50 per hour.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist clients with placement into scattered site program, secure client rooms, and conduct wellness visits either alone or with the Alton Shelter Manager.
  2. Conduct weekly deliveries of food and/or supplies to clients in scattered site program as directed by the Alton Shelter Manager.
  3. Maintain communication with housing provider to address any client issues and immediately report issues to the Alton Shelter Manager.
  4. Assist in the client intake process as This includes completing intake paperwork, conduct client screening, and transporting client to scattered site.
  5. Provide timely documentation of changes in client's behavior and immediately report those changes to the Alton Shelter Manager.
  6. When addressing crisis situations, notify appropriate staff person and contact emergency personnel as
  7. Maintain current roster of clients in scattered site
  8. Assist in maintaining client data base with room locations and contact This will include client's emergency contacts.
  9. Advise clients as to services provided by The Salvation Army and other
  10. Assist the Alton Shelter Manager as needed with client case management
  11. Assist with volunteer church
  12. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner, courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients, respect of others' property and person, and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co- workers, and supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with three years of experience working in social service agency or five years work experience without a diploma. Higher education in psychology, social work, criminal justice or other related field is a plus. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision. Good communication skills are essential, as well as an ability to work with diverse cultures. Computer skills are desirable.


Physical and Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the above essential duties. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
