Job Title: Correctional Officer/ Corrections Officer Pay rate: $45 W2 Duration: 04+ Months Location: 39 HOWARD AVENUE CRANSTON 02920 RI Working Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Roles and Responsibilities: This role is in the Institutions and Operations Division. They will be located in the Central Office Administration Building working directly for the Assistant Director of Institutions and Operations. This position will be the facility manager who will ensure that the operation of the facility runs efficiently and smoothly. There will be extensive training provided to the candidate when coming onboard. Skills Required: Experience gained through employment in an administrative position in a public or private agency involving correctional, rehabilitative or adult programs. A thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques of adult correctional and custodial work; a working knowledge of, and skill in the use of firearms and other protective weapons; a working knowledge of and skill in physical defense techniques; the ability to plan, organize and review work of correctional officers and other personnel on all shifts in the adult correctional institution. The ability to review and evaluate the institution's custodial and correctional activities and to take such action as is necessary to improve the effectiveness of such actives. The ability to provide leadership and to take such action as is necessary to improve the effectiveness of such activities; the ability to provide leadership and to take positive action to quell or suppress any riotous, rebellious or other type of individual or group actions; the ability to handle difficult inmate problem cases; the ability to exercise good judgement in recognizing an dealing with the personal, emotions and adjustment problems of inmates under varying conditions Experience providing support to the staff, inmate, non-uniformed staff and to the Assistant Director of Institutions and Operations. Experience overseeing security issues and manages all correction services of the institution under the general supervision of the Assistant Director.
