About the Role

The Manager, Northern California Container Operations is primarily responsible for managing all equipment control needs in the Northern California region to include terminal inventory, customer needs and aging in community and on terminal. This position will also be responsible for the efficient repair of equipment on terminal while also identifying areas of concern and budgetary guidelines.

What you'll do:

  • Manage loaded containers in yard to ensure efficient freight flows and that everything is loaded to the booked vessels.
  • Communicate and coordinate freight projections and container updates with both Customer Service and SSAT.
  • Manage inbound cargo for expedited availability/ delivery to customer.
  • Manage the container, chassis, and gen set inventory levels in the container yard to ensure empty availability.
  • Manage aging equipment in yard to ensure accurate terminal inventory.
  • Liaison with Equipment control on the leasing, off hiring, and MDA of equipment in the Northern California region.
  • Responsible for oversight of terminal equipment repairs to ensure all procedures are being done properly and timley.
  • Work closely with Matson Corporate M&R to ensure budgetary compliance for repairs both inside and outside terminal.
  • Work with Sales, Truckers, and Customers to minimize aging equipment in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory position, preferably in a union environment

Extra credit if you have:

  • Transportation industry/container yard experience desirable

The annual salary range is posted for this position in California. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
