POSITION CONCEPT:

The Supervisor Generation (Coalfield Operations) is responsible in a line capacity to the Manager Operations - Big Bend Marine and Rail Terminal for providing direct supervision of IBEW Covered Fuel Equipment Operators, Stevedore Electricians, and Special Utility Workers. The supervisor position is responsible for the safety and day to day operation within the coalfield, dock, rail, and byproducts operations. The supervisor position provides technical and operational recommendations on projects as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinates the daily operation and support of Big Bend Station fueling and coalfield activities, operational needs to coal yard maintenance, mobile heavy equipment repairs and schedules manpower needs for both coalfield and by-products areas, with straight time, overtime, vacation planning and training as needed.
  • Works closely with the Big Bend Station Maintenance Planning team POW to schedule manpower according to priority and develop a process of resource sharing station wide as workload permits to support a reduction of variable costs.
  • Supports the daily coalfield and by-products activities and reporting, utilizing coalfield team members, contractors and equipment, in the areas of, gypsum, limestone, solid separation unit, bottom ash loading and coal/byproduct delivery for 3rd party customers and vendors.
  • Provides expert opinions and recommendations regarding Coalfield equipment, on the job observations, operational excellence, cost reduction measures, materials, technology and resources needed to advance the Coalfield and Byproducts operations.



EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma required.

Preferred: Two year degree or four year degree from an accredited university.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum 15 years electric utility experience.

Preferred: Experience in coalfield planning, operations, and maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Required: Must be able to refer to and develop documentation or manuals/guidelines to resolve labor/training/operational issues and have a basic foundation of plant processes to provide input and recommendations. Must be able to resolve a variety of issues/topics that are non-routine and complex with complete independence.

Preferred: Knowledge of TWIC security requirements and maritime law. Working knowledge of operating heavy equipment, bulk material conveyor systems and fuel handling activities.
