Job Description

The Project Engineer Controls and Automation Process is a unique position that identifies, develops and supports cost-effective engineering standards and guidelines that will be used for designing, configuring, programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI automation system installations, globally across all Rockwell Automation manufacturing plants. You will work out of our facility in Twinsburg, OH.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Review and modify, the controls and automation standards to ensure programming styles and structures across all plants
  • Establish, partner and maintain business relationships with external suppliers to support, develop, and qualify equipment for global operations' facilities
  • Train other departments (Industrialization, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Business Units) on standard programming processes that are developed for Rockwell Automation and, where applicable, promote re-use of code and processes
  • Research and develop new programming, communication and hardware technologies for applicability and cost-saving potential
  • Work with IT and OT/MES functions to develop processes and equipment to support Rockwell Automation's Connected Enterprise journey
  • Support line downtime as Tier 2 internal support, and support commissioning of new equipment code review and testing
  • Work in lab environments to test new processes and work with design and industrialization teams to identify technologies and processes to meet the needs of new product designs
  • Manage projects of varying size and scope simultaneously that help improve our digital transformation
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The ability to travel 15% of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming of manufacturing processes using automated equipment
  • Technical experience with multiple technologies (PLC's and HMI's, conveyance, motors, robots, vision, sensors, network switches, etc.)
  • Software application experience with Rockwell and supporting software (Factory Talk Production Centre, Studio 5000, RSLinx, AssetCentre)
  • Programming experience with an awareness or understanding of various languages (Python, Java, XML, JSON, C#)
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors, integrators and OEMs regarding equipment procurement
  • Experience writing technical documents and training
  • Demonstrated leadership and Project Management skills
  • Experience in developing, documenting and training on technical processes
  • Mechanical aptitude
