About The Position

The Director, Corporate Security and Crisis Management is responsible for overseeing security throughout the Ameren Corporation to include, but not limited to, training, executive protection, customer threat assessments, employee/contractor/visitor badging and regulatory and corporate policy violation investigations as well as overseeing an all-hazards crisis management approach to risk identification and mitigation, emergency preparedness and public partnerships organization. This position ensures an adequate level of preparedness across all staff in their assigned emergency role, ensures the completion of preparedness activities across business segments, provides guidance/direction on resource requirements and resource movement during an event, and monitors potential and actual man-made and natural disasters that may impact the organization. The Director is also the liaison to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as well as local and state Office of Emergency Management, Illinois and Missouri Public Utilities Commissions, and other stakeholders and organizations.

Key responsibilities include:

Corporate Security

  • Provide employees 24/7 physical security throughout the Ameren Corporation as well as customer threat assessment.

  • Provide direct leadership to four (4) supervisors and oversee a team of seven (7) investigators, an administrative assistant and approximately 150 security officers.

  • Manage an operating budget of over $10M.

  • Coordinate domestic and international travel and security for the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Oversee the installation, testing and maintenance of over 7,000 electronic devices (alarms, cameras, card access readers, etc.) at over 300 Ameren facilities.

  • Maintain compliance with increasingly stringent federal regulatory physical security requirements across Ameren's electric and gas infrastructure.

  • Design security plans, organize drills and network with industry peers to integrate best practices for security and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance.

  • Provide training to employees and contractors to promote security and ensure compliance with regulatory standards which are ever changing.

  • Ensure the creation and annual review and update of site-specific security plans for Ameren facilities.

  • Compile intelligence derived from monitoring social media sites and nurture relationships with many different informational sources from the private and public sector, which keeps Ameren informed on terrorism threats and planned demonstrations from myriad groups.

  • Liaise with local, state and federal agencies and organizations to develop and nurture relationships to mutually benefit the community and Ameren.

Crisis Management

  • Oversee the execution of emergency incident restoration and recovery efforts by providing guidance and/or support on the plan, execution, and resources required during incidents.

  • Provide direct leadership to team of Crisis Management Professionals, ensuring the continued development of each team member. Manage annual operating budget of $2M.

  • Coordinate the activation of the Crisis Management Team, Incident Support Team, Corporate Joint Information Center and Corporate Emergency Operations Center.

  • Define functions and relationships between departments, roles associated with emergency preparedness and partner with other emergency-related departments to ensure that emergency response processes are coordinated across the enterprise.

  • Lead initiatives to ensure strategies, plans and processes are in place to meet all regulatory requirements.

  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement of the emergency management processes.

  • Recommend emergency recovery metrics to the company's metric owners across the organization.

  • Oversee the development and delivery of co-worker and public safety, emergency preparedness, and response training and exercise programs.

  • Partner with other Ameren units to act as a liaison to external entities, such as local and state Office of Emergency Management, Illinois and Missouri Public Utility Commissions, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • 10 or more years of specialized experience in, or related to, the investigative methods, protective methods, and law enforcement techniques that provided the specific competencies.

  • Strong security and administrative background and established contacts with personnel from law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri and Illinois.

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience.

  • Graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and a member of good standing in the local Chapter preferred.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$161,100.00 - $249,700.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance. Director and above positions also include a Long-Term Incentive Plan and the option to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan.
