Engineering Manager Job Summary: Hillpointe is a vertically integrated multi-family development designer and builder, with in-house engineering and construction teams that manage developments through the complete project life cycle (from initial site assessment to final construction completion). As part of the Hillpointe model, the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading multiple design teams in the design and production of construction plans, technical calculations, reports, and permitting for Hillpointe, LLC's multi-family development projects that occur in Georgia, Florida, and the Southeast. This position is a unique opportunity to be a part of an "In-House" Engineering Department for a southeastern regional development firm. Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversees the design and production of construction plans and permit submittal documents
- Provide mentorship to Engineers and assist in skill development as well as responsible for hiring necessary staff.
- QA/QC Construction plan sets for site development and review in accordance with Hillpointe standards, local jurisdictional standards, and engineering best practices.
- Maintain licensure and be the established Engineer of Record for construction documents.
- Manage schedules, timelines and balance the workload of design teams.
- Provide construction administration services as required that include but are not limited to, attending pre-construction meetings, reviewing shop drawings, 7-Day inspections, and pond as-built verification.
- Coordinate with agency/municipality staff, engineers/consultants, architects, project team, contractor, and ownership
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Engineering.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of Engineering Team and Company practices which align with our mission statement
- Engineer of Record for projects under supervision
- Due Diligence review, receive handoff from Site Feasibility Manager
- Manage/supplement key DD tasks including prelim earthwork and water models
- Attend public meetings as needed during Rezones and Final Engineering
- Identify key areas of growth for employees under management, help identify training opportunities
- Drive the design and permitting process, address PM design questions, review AHJ comments and develop plan of action to resolve
- Track and report project status to Director of Engineering Services
- Identify and request help with non-design related issues
Key Attributes:
- Advanced skills in leading the design of civil-site projects with experience in developing grading plans, utilities, hydrology and hydraulics and roadway design.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work independently with little direction as well as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining key deadlines
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field
- Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow/ICPR (or equivalent), WaterCAD, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Smartsheets
- Required: Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida
- Understanding of site grading, storm drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater design principles
