Description

Executive Leadership and Team Oversight




*



Serve as a key strategic, operational and administrative leader for the academic and research enterprise under the overall direction of the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and in collaboration with the Chief Research Officer (CRO).



*



Lead and provide strategic direction for a team of directors and managers overseeing key research and academic functions.



*



Ensure alignment between research operations, regulatory compliance, faculty affairs, and innovation initiatives with the hospital's overall mission.



*



Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and communication to improve efficiency, compliance, and innovation.



*



Set clear goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures for direct reports.




Research Operations and Facilities Management




*



Work with the CRO and the leader of research facilities and biosafety to ensure efficient management of research infrastructure, space allocation, and compliance with environmental and biosafety regulations.



*



Work with the leader of the animal facility to ensure proper operation of animal research programs in compliance with all relevant guidelines and ethical standards.



*



Develop long-term strategies for research facility expansion, upgrades, and operational efficiency, in collaboration with the CRO.




Regulatory Affairs and Compliance




*



Work with the CRO and the leader of IRB and research regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional research regulations.



*



Ensure timely and efficient review of research protocols by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).



*



Maintain research integrity and compliance programs, including conflict-of-interest management and research misconduct policies.




Academic Operations and Faculty Affairs




*



Work with the faculty affairs office to oversee faculty recruitment, appointments, promotions, and professional development programs.



*



Foster academic collaborations, partnerships, and training programs to support faculty and research staff.



*



Support undergraduate and graduate medical education (UME and GME) and research training initiatives, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.




Innovation and Strategic Growth




*



Work with the leader of research innovation to develop and implement initiatives that drive research commercialization, technology transfer, and industry partnerships.



*



Identify opportunities for external funding, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic support.



*



Develop strategies to enhance interdisciplinary research collaborations and hospital-wide innovation initiatives.




Financial and Business Operations





*



In collaboration with finance department, develop and manage budgets for research operations, facilities, compliance, and academic programs.



*



Implement cost-saving measures and resource optimization strategies to enhance research sustainability.



*



Ensure efficient allocation of research funds and compliance with grant management requirements.



*



Oversee and manage grants and contracts administration functions to ensure efficiency, accountability and responsiveness to the needs of funded investigators.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Research Administration, or a related field required.



  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Research Administration, or a related field preferred.




  • 10 years of progressive experience in research administration, healthcare operations, or academic administration, with leadership experience in a hospital, medical center, or research institution. Experience managing teams across multiple research and academic functions.
