Qualifications:

Education: A BS in analytical chemistry or a related field is required with 3+ years of industry experience or MS/PHD in analytical chemistry or a related field with 2 + years of industry experience.

Must haves:

* Working in a lab setting

* HPLC analysis of molecules(biologics and small molecule.)

* Recording results in a notebook.

* Excellent laboratory skills in analytical chemistry or a related field are critical.

* Experience in chemical compound handling, purification and characterization is a must.

* Ability to work on different projects in parallel is required.

Nice to haves:

* Small scale pre-formulations

* Small scale Lipid nanoparticles

* ELN experience

* Liquid handling robotics

* TECAN liquid handling

* Analytical characterization

Personality:

* The successful candidate should show a desire to learn and implement new methods and apply them to answer scientific questions.

* Ability to work in a team and interact with colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

* Open communication, an independent and precise way of working, and excellent teamwork skills are critical.

* Good communication skills are required.

Responsibilities:

The Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences team is a formulation team that is imbedded with drug discovery in the Merck Research Laboratories. Our group profiles molecules, biologics and small molecules, and carries out key pre-formulation studies to develop formulation strategies to support candidate selection as well as clinical development.

Looking for a highly motivated individual who will support an experienced discovery formulation sciences team in profiling and formulating discovery molecules. This will involve the handling of chemical compounds and the preparation of small molecule and large molecule samples using manual and liquid handling robotics use of HPLC, HPSEC, various spectrophotometry and other analytical methods, documenting and reporting results in electronic notebooks.

* A typical day would include preparation of formulation components and molecules of interest to enable stability and performance testing.

* Testing is often done by HPLC based techniques (HPLC-UV, HPLC-SEC-RI) as well as electrophoresis methods. Thermal and X-ray analysis is also common to fully characterize small molecules and biologics.

* Your results would be captured in an electronic lab notebook and communicated to other team members as we support projects.

* The labs are a fast paced and exciting environment as your data will be key to decision making in our labs.
