Responsibilities

The role involves diagnosing and treating individuals with psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, and medical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the interdisciplinary team in alignment with PrairieCare's treatment programs and core philosophy.
  • Ensures high-quality care for adults, adolescents, children, and their families dealing with psychiatric and substance use disorders, in accordance with granted Medical Staff privileges.
  • Provides services across various settings, including hospital, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, or residential programs.
  • Maintains knowledge of available follow-up resources for adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Facilitates individual and family therapy sessions.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Psychiatrist:

  • Must hold a valid medical license from the State of Minnesota.
  • Completion of an accredited Postgraduate Training Residency is required.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry is necessary; Board Certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is mandatory for the Brooklyn Park Inpatient position.
  • Capability to uphold necessary medical staff privileges and maintain malpractice insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders in adults, adolescents, and children, along with advanced understanding of abnormal psychology principles.
  • Must handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Proficient in summarizing relevant clinical information through written communication and medical documentation.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize the intranet site as needed.
  • Skilled at transitioning smoothly and quickly between diverse tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond swiftly and calmly as part of a team in volatile or emergency situations.
  • Capable of making sound decisions under stress.
  • After training, must be able to manage disruptive and aggressive patients.
  • DEA registration is required.

Pay range for this position is $300,000 to $325,000 depending on education and experience.
