Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $18.32 - Midpoint: $21.97 (Hourly N4)

Department/Organization: 204451 - Mathematics

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant II maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assists University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance and trains entry-level Accounting Assistants.

Additional Department Summary: Maintains departmental budgets for operating, course fees and research overhead. Creates and approves monthly reconciliation reports for all departmental and grant budgets using Axiom, Concur and Banner. Prepares annual departmental anticipated budget report. Provides monthly and quarterly budget reports including committed but not yet spent funds. Monitors departmental endowment funds. Prepare paperwork for external grants. Monitors departmental research overhead funds. Oversees departmental purchases. Submits ePAs and tuition waivers for Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Research Assistants.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree or higher.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both written and verbally. Ability to problem solve and propose solutions consistent with established policies and procedures. Ability to work cooperatively with others toward common objectives. Strong organizational and time management skills and be detailed oriented. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with UA systems (Concur, Banner, Everest K2, etc.). Grant and budget management experience.
