Bargaining unit consideration begins on 01/30/2025 and ends on 2/6/2025.

This position is 40 hours per week Monday-Friday

Summary of Position:

Under general supervision, the Staffing Operations Specialist will be responsible for intake of HR data requests for various types of hires, assessing and making decisions on each request, along with posting all positions for faculty, professional & administrative, civil service, labor represented, and student positions for all units and campuses across the University of Minnesota.

Recruiting Management 65%

  • Manage all requisition tasks, including opening and closing positions, analyze information and documentation provided by the hiring unit, and ensure the posting follows collective bargaining and DEI requirements.
  • Assess and identify the appropriate process based on the type of hiring request received. Make independent decisions based on each hiring request and employee group requirements.
  • Responsible for processing a high volume of hiring requests while maintaining data integrity within multiple HR systems.
  • Interpret and review HR policies and established procedures to solve problems and provide guidance on all hiring requests.
  • Develop working relationships with departmental HR staff and managers. Advise on processes and changes needed based on hiring requests.
  • Identify and resolve issues as needed. Recommend if analysis leads to process improvements or updating training materials.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Center of Expertise team to ensure a streamlined process for all applicants.

Problem Solving and Communication 20%

  • Research and identify leading practices for internal flows which may impact multiple HR areas.
  • Recommend solutions for continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with various offices across UMN to develop continuous collaboration and ensure a seamless and equitable recruitment process for all candidates.
  • Advise with new and existing HR staff and managers to provide recommendations and guidance on each process as needed in their role.
  • May train new Staffing Operations team members.

Professional Development 10%

  • Completes professional development, education, and training activities, consistent with managing the responsibilities of the position. Completes continued learning and development appropriate to work duties and for the pursuit of individual, unit, and institutional success.
  • Participates in staff development based on individual need including ongoing skills training, DEI development, professional learning, service & scholarly activity, and engagement & well-being.

Other duties as assigned 5%

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and five years of related experience to include project management. Coursework in a related field may substitute for some years of experience.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a constantly evolving environment
  • Ability to handle interactions to provide service and to support the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional HR work experience
  • PHR, SPHR, or equivalent certification
  • Ability to maintain and develop inclusive relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
  • Focus on compliance to ensure policies, practices and procedures are upheld to maintain institutional compliance
  • Experience using organizational knowledge to understand the vision, mission, and values of an organization in order to achieve success
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and technology systems and workplace terminology
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $50,066 - $59,571; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
