Your Role on Our Team:

As the Group Manager of Business Intelligence Engineering, you will be responsible for defining and driving the vision and strategy for our data modeling and reporting capabilities. Leading a talented team of BI engineers, both onshore and offshore, you will balance strategic oversight with occasional hands-on contributions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, actionable insights. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, finance, and other teams to align BI initiatives with business objectives. You will focus on fostering a culture of candid communication, ownership, and empowered leadership while mentoring and developing your team to achieve their full potential. Success in this role means building impactful reports, setting a clear BI strategy, and enabling fast, data-driven decision-making across the organization. You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and Oversee BI Initiatives: Provide leadership and direction to the Business Intelligence team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data models, reports, and dashboards that drive business decisions.
  • Define and Execute BI Strategy: Develop a forward-looking BI strategy aligned with organizational goals, balancing long-term vision with immediate execution needs.
  • Hands-On Technical Contributions: Contribute hands-on to key projects, including designing data models, building reports in Power BI, or optimizing workflows in Azure and Databricks, while primarily focusing on leadership responsibilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders by consulting on data needs, presenting insights, demoing BI solutions, and aligning deliverables with business priorities.
  • Manage BI Tools and Platforms: Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of BI tools and platforms such as Power BI, Azure, and Databricks to ensure scalability and performance.
  • Team Development and Mentorship: Build a high-performing team by hiring top talent, mentoring team members, fostering growth opportunities, and cultivating a culture of ownership and empowered leadership.
  • Project Management: Manage the BI project pipeline by prioritizing initiatives, defining timelines, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery of impactful solutions.
  • Drive Innovation in BI Processes: Lead efforts to innovate and improve BI processes through automation, advanced analytics techniques, and leveraging the latest industry trends.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with business teams, data teams, BI-ops, and data-ops to lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance data accessibility and usability across the organization.
  • Define KPIs and Measure Success: Establish success metrics for BI projects and track their ROI to ensure alignment with business objectives and continuous improvement.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Years of Experience: 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, or related fields, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Advanced Power BI Expertise: Deep knowledge of Power BI, including report creation, data visualization, DAX calculations, and publishing dashboards to deliver actionable insights.
  • Data Modeling and SQL Proficiency: Expertise in designing scalable data models and advanced SQL skills for querying, transforming, and analyzing data.
  • Azure Ecosystem Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Azure services for managing cloud-based data platforms and familiarity with Databricks for collaborative data workflows.
  • DevOps and Collaboration Tools: Experience with DevOps practices (e.g., Azure DevOps) and team collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams to streamline workflows and communication.
  • Leadership and Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and engage with cross-functional stakeholders to align BI initiatives with business goals.
  • Innovation in BI Processes: A track record of driving innovation through automation, optimization, or leveraging emerging technologies such as AI/ML (nice to have).
  • Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues, optimize systems, and deliver solutions that meet business needs efficiently.
  • Adaptability to New Tools: Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau or Looker) and a willingness to explore new technologies as needed to enhance BI capabilities.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Experience with Azure DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps for managing workflows, integrating with Power BI, and streamlining project pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Power Automate: Ability to use Power Automate to enhance reporting processes by automating repetitive tasks and improving data workflows within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with tools like Databricks Unity Catalog or Azure Purview for managing data governance, lineage, and quality across the organization's data assets.
  • Custom Visuals in Power BI: Experience creating or implementing custom visuals in Power BI to deliver more tailored and impactful reports.
  • Basic Python Skills: General knowledge of Python for enhancing data workflows or performing advanced analytics when needed.
