Overview:

Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacture of LEDs, displays, power electronics, hard drives, compound semiconductors, MEMS, semiconductors advanced packaging and wireless chips. We are the market leader in MOCVD, MBE, Ion Beam, Wet Etch single wafer processing and other advanced thin film process technologies. Our high-performance systems drive innovation in energy efficiency, consumer electronics and network storage and allow our customers to maximize productivity and achieve lower cost of ownership. Veeco continues to grow and is looking for a Systems Engineer.

The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Horsham, PA, Engineering team and will be responsible for architecting control solutions for our Single Wet Wafer Processing tools, including system design, prototyping, development, testing, and release support. To accomplish this, you will work closely with other members of the Engineering team, as well as other cross-functional groups that include Applications Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Field Service, and Technical Support.

Responsibilities:



  • Select and specify system and subsystem power and control components utilized within semiconductor processing tools.
  • Design and modify electrical/electronic assemblies, layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings/specifications.
  • Select and integrate off-the-shelf controller devices that operate new process features and subsystems of Process tools.
  • Design motion and control algorithms for heaters, servo, stepper, and other controller hardware.
  • Create control layout and block diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Write and support 'C'-based firmware for existing DSP-based, distributed controllers.
  • Create C#.NET software for new and existing control applications and for testing and troubleshooting firmware and software.
  • Utilize SAP to enter and track documentation.
  • Adhere to various industry operating and safety standards, including SEMI, UL, and CE.
  • Aid in the creation of test plans for new feature additions. Drive generation of related documentation for product release.
  • Additional tasks and projects to support other Veeco product lines and locations.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical field with 2+ years of related experience; or an MS Degree is required. Must be experienced with electro-mechanical system integration, programming, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Experience with third-party controller integration in high precision control applications
  • Experience with Beckhoff / EtherCAT controls or a similar control architecture
  • Experience programming firmware and software applications in C/C#.NET is desired
  • Experience developing code for embedded controller applications (e.g. Raspberry Pi) a plus
  • Experience operating industrial machinery and/or robotics a plus
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Windows operating system
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented



The expected salary range for this position is $75,510 - $95,646, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
