Position Summary:
The
Endocrine Disruption and Chemical Biology Laboratory (EDC Lab) is recruiting a full-time
Research Associate to join our team. Our research bridges reproductive
biology, toxicology, and sustainable chemistry to study the mechanisms by which
environmental chemicals act as endocrine disruptors. Specifically, we combine
chemical biology techniques with in vitro mouse models of the female
reproductive system to study environmentally relevant mixtures of chemical
toxicants. This is a limited time position appropriate for a recent graduate
who is looking to spend a year doing research in preparation for beginning a
PhD program.

The
candidate will facilitate daily laboratory operations, including tissue culture
support and mouse handling. The Research Associate will also perform
experiments, contribute to manuscripts/grants/abstracts, receive mentorship
from the PI, and be a part of an inclusive environment that supports
creativity, professional development, and scientific discovery.

Essential Functions:
This
position works independently under the guidance of, and in conjunction with,
the Principal Investigator in accomplishing the goals of the laboratory,
including:
- Performing mouse
handling, including coordinating basic animal care, breeding, weaning, ordering,
transportation, etc.
- Performing tissue
culture and molecular biology experiments and assisting with establishing
and maintaining daily laboratory operations/organization.
- Supporting
research operations through administrative responsibilities related to
laboratory safety, ordering supplies, and performing basic laboratory and
equipment maintenance.
- Receiving
mentorship from the PI and being a part of an inclusive environment that
supports creativity, professional development, and scientific discovery.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-
BA/BS/MS in a
scientific discipline and previous research experience are required.
- Must be
comfortable working with mice, previous rodent and/or female reproduction
experience preferred.
- Strong
organizational skills.
- Ability to commit one
year to the position.
- At
the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites
may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of
the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience
specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
