GENERAL SUMMARY

The Manager is responsible for directing and managing the Nursing Education and Research Department staff and services. In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, coordinates all aspects of the ANCC Magnet application, designation and re-designation process while maintaining a highly visible leadership role in the hospital and throughout the health system. Reports to director of nursing education and research.

ABOUT THIS LOCATION

Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital is a 280-bed acute care campus located in the heart of Grosse Pointe. Opened in 1945 by the Sisters of Bon Secours, it was acquired by Beaumont Health System in October 2007. Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital offers medical, surgical, emergency, obstetric and critical care services. In March 2012, the Cotton Family Birth Center at Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital was designated a Baby-Friendly birth center by Baby-Friendly USA. Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital is also home to The James and Patricia Anderson Surgical Center, a leading-edge, hybrid surgical suite offering advanced learning, technological advancements and a wide array of procedures ranging from traditional to minimally invasive approaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Managing the 7 FTE staff in Nursing Education and Research in job functions, scheduling, and writing annual performance evaluations.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of campus specific orientation for Inpatient RNs, NTs and NAs.
  • Inpatient Corporate Compliance Coordinator; collaborate with counterparts to review and update the plan, implement processes to reduce risk, collect and evaluate data, and operationalize plan.
  • University Affiliation Program; responsible for all aspects of placing nursing students for clinical rotations while ensuring university and student compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Collect data for CMS reimbursement and report to the Reimbursement Department.
  • Chairs the Magnet Steering Committee; serving as a liaison and consultative resource for all clinical and support departments, administration, physicians, and the community.
  • Serve as Magnet advisor/liaison to nursing leadership, nursing councils, unit-based Magnet committee and nursing community; by keeping informed of Magnet Program initiatives and initiating plans for meeting objectives.
  • Facilitator for achievement of key objectives in the Magnet Program through development of educational material for staff.
  • Analyzes unit/department data related to nurse sensitive indicators in comparison to established benchmarks; apprises leadership of standings; and develops action plans to obtain.
  • Coordinates collection, categorization and filing of all Magnet evidence for designation/re-designation process.
  • Oversees hospital preparation for Magnet appraiser site visit, coordinating exhibits, unit inspections, agenda planning and unit champion orientation.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Masters Degree in related field, required
  • Minimum of two years' experience in nursing education, required
  • Minimum 2 years leadership experience, preferred
  • Magnet experience, preferred
  • State of Michigan Registered Nurse license, required
