Quality Process Mgr (US)

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Senior Service Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Remote, CA (San Diego, La Jolla, Ocean Side, Irvine and or South San Francisco, San Jose Hayward, Oakland, Berkeley)

Shift: Core hours are from Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm, but flexibility outside these hours is required.

Yearly Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 plus 5% ICP Bonus

Travel Requirements: Travel is required 30% to 50% of the time, with trips lasting 1-2 weeks and frequent returns to the road. You will primarily cover the Eastern Seaboard, from New York to West Virginia to Florida and Texas. You may occasionally travel to the West Coast, but will be expected to work in the primary region 90% of the time.

What we're looking for

Education: BA or BS accredited college or university strongly preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field.

Experience: 5+ years of related or applicable experience, 5+ yrs of Lean Six Sigma preferred in logistics, laboratory and scientific support services

Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred

• Demonstrated project management and process improvement expertise, with a strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

• Strong mathematical skills and expertise in Excel and spreadsheet management.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build effective working relationships.

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and manage teams.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional presentation skills.

• Capable of gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to draw sound conclusions.

• Extensive project management experience.

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

• Project Management: Oversee projects with a focus on continuous improvement, ensuring effective execution and delivery of objectives.

• Account Refresh and Maintenance: Regularly update and manage accounts in alignment with system requirements and quality standards, including Inventory Manager.

• Physical Implementation: Coordinate and manage physical setup and implementation activities.

• Continuous Improvement Plans: Develop, execute, and refine continuous improvement strategies.

• Walkthroughs: Conduct initial site walkthroughs for geographical assignments to assess needs.

• Inventory Metrics: Design, train, and focus on key inventory metrics, including 90-day no-move reports, discontinued item tracking, and Blank UOM initiatives.

• KPI/SLA Setup: Define and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• System Setup & Configuration: Support and manage system setups, including reconfiguring systems to meet client needs.

• Quality Audits and Reviews: Perform audits at service locations, assist with account setups, and help develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Gemba Walks & Kaizen Events: Lead Gemba walks to assess service locations, facilitating Kaizen and problem-solving events.

• Training & Development: Provide training on processes, systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Business Audits: Conduct general audits to ensure operations and systems are set up and functioning as expected.

• Familiarity with Inventory Manager, SAP, and client-specific systems to ensure proper configuration and setup.

• Ability to upload new organizational structures and perform system audits.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and guide teams.

• Ability to handle dynamic tasks, with no two days being the same.

• Additional: Strong focus on continuous improvement, including ongoing training, process optimization, and system adjustments.
