Position Summary

Provide assistance in hosting, planning, implementing, promoting and evaluating recreation programs, classes and special events. Provide assistance for a wide range of duties such as responding to requests for information, hosting programs, assisting customers with registrations and accommodating special needs and program planning. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties. Part-time, casual, non-represented position Temporary: April - September 2025, Sundays-Thursday Approx. 18-25 hrs/wk depending on program needs Must meet all qualifications and requirements as listed in the position description.

Essential Functions

Performs some or all of essential functions of this position depending on assignment. Servesasa pointofcontact,answersphonesand emails,respondstorequestsfor information,provides requestedmaterialsand informationfor recreation programs. Communicatesinformation regarding programsand respondstoinquiresfromthepublic, internal customers, contractors, affiliated partners and program sponsors.
Assistswith programrostersand registration dataentry.
Workswith Recreation Coordinators and other department staff tocreate,maintain,promote,and implementservices,programs, and events.
Assistsin thedesignof avarietyofmaterialstocreate,maintain,market,and promoteprogramsand events.
May teach or lead activities based on assignment.
Performsothersupportdutiesand special projectsasassigned. Depending on assigned area operates and drives a motor vehicle and/or equipment safely and legally.
Conformswith allsafetyrulesand performsworkis asafemanner. Practicessafejob-sitemethods whileperforming duties.
Deliversexcellentcustomer servicetodiverseaudiences.
Maintainseffectiveworkrelationships.
Complieswith all Administrativeand Departmental Policies.Performsworkin accordancewith Council Policiesand Municipal Codesectionsapplicabletotheposition.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience Combination of education, training, or experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Public Recreation, education, or volunteer experience in recreation programming area highly desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to pass a pre-employment background and/or criminal history check
Ability to be creative, collaborative and committed to developing recreation programs for people of all ages and abilities. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction and to exchange information. Basic understanding of simple work processes, methods or equipment. Ability to learn job-related information and techniques. Strong interpersonal problem-solving, organizational skills desired. Effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to use ordinary conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment as well as alone at a work-site under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately in accordance with Department policy. Ability to get along well with coworkers and maintain effective work relationships. Special Requirements This position requires the ability to work flexible hours. Work overtime and on weekends as needed. First AID/CPR certification may be required depending on assignment. May require the ability to possess and maintain a valid drivers' license.
