Specialist Digital Systems

Job Location: Hershey, PA

Summary:

The Hershey Company West Hershey plant is a Union plant that produces products such as White & Milk Chocolate, Kisses, Nuggets, Bars, Rolo, and Syrup in a high-speed complex environment.

The Digital Systems Specialist will provide technical support at the plant level, acting as first responder to IT/OT issues related to digitally-integrated systems.

The Digital Systems Specialist will act as liaison between the plant, Corporate IT functions, and Engineering to implement, test, and support IoT platforms and products. The Digital Systems Specialist will coordinate support for end user devices (PCs, phones, etc) working with corporate IT Helpdesk functions.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting innovative solutions, collaborating with business partners across functions, and delivering within a change management process.

Ongoing responsibilities include hardware and software support for Windows PC's, printers, virtual environments, network infrastructure, time clocks, bar code systems, phone system, and paging system. In addition, the Digital Systems Specialist will:

• IT systems:
  
  
  
  • Provide on-site monitoring and support for IT infrastructure. Work with corporate IT and plant staff to help implement corporate-driven hardware, software, and network projects. Facilitate communications to plant staff about IT projects. Help facilitate Windows desktop/laptop installation and maintenance.
  
  
  
  
• OT systems:
  
  
  
  • Support automation/controls software and licenses required on technician PCs, support plant OT infrastructure including virtual machines, networking, thin clients, system backups, imaging, and hardware troubleshooting.
  
  
  
  
• End User Support:
  
  
  
  • Respond to plant user support needs related to PC software and hardware, printers, and plant applications such as PI (data historian), MES systems, EMS systems, barcode systems, and timeclocks. Facilitate user access requests, user training, and manage user accounts as required. Work with corporate IT Help Desk.
  
  
  
  
• Disaster Recovery:
  
  
  
  • Ensure data backup program(s) are properly administrated per Company policy. Function as the "Plant Owner" of local computer rooms and data closets to help ensure security, fire protection, and utility supplies are well maintained.
  
  
  
  

Skills and Experience:

• Proficient understanding of PCs and printers
• Proficient understanding of Windows operating systems (PC and server)
• Understanding of virtual environments (virtual machines, VLANs, thin clients, etc.)
• Understanding of network communications
• Understanding of network security and firewall configurations
• Base experience with automation and controls solutions, including PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems
• Some knowledge of program languages and database concepts
• Some knowledge of web design

Minimum Requirements and Education:

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
• Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in IT/OT support
