The Role

The Director of Indirect Procurement for GTI, will lead and optimize the sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management of assigned production goods, services, and technology. This strategic leader will collaborate with internal stakeholders, drive cost-saving initiatives, and ensure procurement aligns with organizational goals. They will partner closely with Grow site teams and the Technology team to efficiently manage procurement activities, ensuring products and services are sourced cost-effectively and on time. This role is key to enhancing profitability through strategic negotiations and innovative sourcing solutions while maintaining high quality and business agility. Additionally, the Director will implement continuous improvement processes to support organizational growth and build a scalable infrastructure for physical, software, and network components.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Internal Stakeholders: Streamlines procurement processes and aligns initiatives with business objectives across retail, cultivation, operations, finance, and legal.
  • Manages Indirect Procurement: Leads end-to-end procurement for Indirect categories including, Grow, MRO, Software, Hardware, SaaS, Services, Cloud, and related categories and takes on ad-hoc projects as assigned.
  • Leads Sourcing Processes: Manages RFI/RFP preparation and execution by understanding stakeholder needs and translating them into relevant sourcing documents.
  • Builds Stakeholder Relationships: Engages with Technology and Operations teams to review sourcing strategies, vendor performance, and evolving business needs.
  • Oversees Vendor Management: Maintains vendor relationships, manages supplier performance, and handles contract renewals and price renegotiations.
  • Manages Software Licensing: Conducts regular license audits, collaborates with vendors to adjust licenses, and ensures accurate billing.
  • Evaluates Tech Solutions: Assesses software and hardware options, provides strategic recommendations, and ensures vendor compliance with security standards.
  • Coordinates with Accounting: Verifies vendor billing accuracy in collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Implements Procurement Strategies: Adheres to leadership-defined procurement policies, optimizes processes for efficiency, and mitigates risks.
  • Supports Cross-Functional Teams: Engages stakeholders in sourcing strategy development and addresses conflicts between requirements and sourcing strategies.
  • Builds Supplier Networks: Establishes reliable supplier relationships, leveraging them for warranties and discounts.
  • Tracks and Reports Spending: Develops tracking mechanisms and KPIs, monitors compliance, and reports insights to senior management.
  • Leads Complex Negotiations: Executes strategic negotiations with suppliers to maximize cost savings.
  • Drives Cost Efficiency: Identifies cost reduction opportunities and optimizes inventory levels based on demand and lead times.
  • Leads and Develops Team: Mentors a high-performing procurement team to support organizational growth.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field: information technology, business, supply chain, finance
  • 10+ years of procurement experience, with a focus on indirect categories. Experience in cannabis, CPG, retail, or manufacturing is a plus. Expertise in the IT supplier market: major suppliers, trends, threats, terms, etc.
  • Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., Coupa, SAP Ariba) and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
  • APICS or Supply Chain Certification is preferred
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness.
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking.
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
