Tax Manager

Interstate Companies Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our corporate team in Eagan Minnesota. The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the tax department, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in tax preparation and planning, financial reporting, and excellent analytical skills. The Tax Manager will play a crucial role in strategic tax planning, managing audits, and minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring the accuracy of each filing.

Base Salary range: $135K-$150K annually plus monthly incentive DOE.

Typical Day in the Life:

A typical day as a Tax Manager in Eagan, MN might include the following:



  • Oversee the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Develop strategies to optimize tax obligations and ensure compliance with tax laws.
  • Work with staff to ensure individual and business tax returns are completed correctly and by the required deadline.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits, inquiries and notices from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams of all levels to ensure alignment and coordination on tax matters.
  • Identify, track, and report any potential financial risks.
  • Coach or mentor staff members to assist with enhancing their skills and further developing their career.
  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations, keeping abreast of changes and developments.
  • Look at tax situations from various angles to ensure the maximum tax benefit is applied.



Who You Are:



  • The word "tax" is not foreign to you, and you can easily explain details of your tax experience.
  • You enjoy keeping up to date on the ever-changing tax industry's regulations and policies.
  • You have a knack for solving problems and easily notice issues while bringing solutions to the table.
  • You take pride in helping others, and you are ready to take on the challenge of leading a team of high-performing individuals.
  • You have knowledge of and exposure to a variety of industries.
  • In addition to all of this, an active CPA license and 5-7 years of corporate or public accounting tax experience is preferred.



Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.



Travel Requirements:



  • As needed for training.



Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification.
  • Public Accounting or Corporate Tax experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management or a related role.



Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
