Senior Systems Administrator - Help Desk

Paragon, a fast-growing presence in DoD-related IT consulting, seeks a full range computer and systems support technicians to respond to a multitude of DoD user requests in a fast-paced, mission-critical, rapidly evolving DoD environment. The chosen professional must be able to diagnose and resolve technical problems across hardware, software, and network systems.

The chosen candidate will:

  • Provide computer technical support, multi-function devices support, account permissions management and general troubleshooting, supporting computer and peripheral installations as well as basic networking support.
  • Provide the following services: maintaining IT hardware, systems administrating, backup/restore, reporting, and general maintenance of specific Hardware Operating Systems (primarily oriented on Windows OS) or a range of Software Applications generally resident in DoD environments.
  • On occasion provide on-call and after duty hours (including supporting operationally critical support through holidays and staff absences, after-hours, on-call, and incident response support services)
  • Be responsible for managing all access accounts and associated role level privileges and supporting end user hardware, software, and application requirements via remote and desk-side engagement.
  • Provide inventory management and control officer support to include managing new and ongoing inventory, documenting inventory changes, implementing unit hand receipting processes, support deployment kit management, and executing related documentation.
  • Be an engaged self-starter who enjoys being proactive and inquisitive in a dynamic DoD environment in support of important missions. They must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills and must be able to communicate effectively with military, civilian, and contractor personnel at all levels. A strong work ethic and team-oriented approach to the work environment is essential. Must be operationally resilient and capable of successfully performing in a

OCONUS and CONUS travel (duration: 3-10 days) occurs roughly once or twice yearly.

Location: 100% on-site at Naval Station Norfolk

Experience/Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current Security + Certification (but ideally additional IT certifications)
  • Security Clearance: Current Secret Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related IT field which may be offset by additional experience and/or certifications.
  • Help Desk: At least three (3) years' experience providing Help Desk support. Experience in a wide range of support actions including remote and desk-side support in Microsoft Windows 10/11-based environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Microsoft 365 products, including Office Suite, Teams, Outlook, and other related applications.
  • Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure domain, server, and workstation compliance.
  • Manage user accounts and groups within Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC).
  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Administration:
    1. Navigate the SCCM console effectively.
    2. Manage computer collections and add/remove resources.
    3. Execute and interpret SCCM queries.
    4. Analyze SCCM logs, including familiarity with CMTrace.
  • Utilize Organizational Units (OUs) effectively.
  • Basic network knowledge. Such as relationships between patch panels and switches. Able to follow cabling path from device all the way back to switch.
  • Administer and maintain DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Certificate Authorities, and Domain architecture.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot scripts for various tasks (e.g., software deployment, system administration).
  • Experience with MDT, WDS, or other methods for creating and managing Task Sequences for custom Windows 11 image deployment.
  • Experience in deploying and managing software patches using WSUS.
  • Current Operating System MSCA Certification (Windows 10) or Windows Server Certification (WinServer 8 or 12).

Desired/Preferred:

  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI eligible candidates highly preferred.
  • Certifications: Current Window 10/11 Certifications strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of advanced Active Directory features (Attribute Editor, alternative user lookup methods) is a plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting Adobe products is highly desirable.
  • Military Credentialing Experience: At least two (2) years' experience supporting NIPR and SIPR personnel account credentialing.
  • Experience with VMware, VSphere, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Experience with PowerShell or CMD Line scripting is preferred.
