The network administrator II primarily performs network, hardware and software support for the enterprise as directed by the infrastructure manager and system administrators. They configure and integrate networking equipment, storage, physical and virtual servers, conduct research on modern technologies and systems, lead projects for upgrading or implementing new systems or infrastructure and recommend improvements around existing technologies. The network administrator II is a tier two resource for issues escalated to the network team.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Serves as the secondary backup administrator
  • Maintains network integrity via a security focused approach to new systems design and deployment
  • Collaborates with Information Security staff as needed to resolve issues
  • Acts as an escalation point for security related issues
  • Installs, maintains and configures routers, switches, firewalls, and storage on Windows/Linux/VMWare servers
  • Ensures optimization and peak performance of core infrastructure servers, storage and networking equipment via patches, updates, etc.
  • Reviews logs, generates reports and identifies trends for critical systems
  • Trains and mentors junior team members on modern technology and systems
  • Creates documentation on new systems and technology, as well as updating legacy articles



Required Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in computer science or related technical degree
  • 5 years relevant work experience
  • Advanced understanding of LANs, WANs and routing over TCP/IP
  • Advanced understanding and knowledge of Microsoft 365 best practices and administration
  • Flexibility to cover rotating shifts (7am to 6pm CST)
  • Occasional travel required (3-5 times/year)



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Security network administration experience
  • Linux operating systems and servers experience
  • Technical certifications preferred (A+, Security+, MCSA, MCSE)
  • SD-WAN administration experience
  • Azure networking experience
