I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the operation of the peer support component of RES consistent with applicable agency, state. Federal, payer, CARF, and other standards.
2. Provides oversight and management of the peer support services component.
3. Provides regular supervision to Recovery Coaches and Peer Specialists.
4. Engages in activities to develop peer support services within the agency.
5. Works collaboratively with managers and leaders in the division and in the agency to connect participants with peer supports.
6. Orients and supports the training of new staff consistent with division and agency expectations.
7. Supports the upholding of ethical responsibilities consistent with SAMHSA peer competencies and inclusive of agency policy and procedures.
8. Ensures staff meet relevant training/certification pursuant to MBSACC requirements and SAMHSA standards.
9. Manages referrals for peer support and assignment of individuals to peer support staff accordingly.
10. Works with administrative management and support to meet requirements for billing payers for services provided and the efficient and effective provision of services.
11. Participates in division and agency initiatives to support participant voice in "consumer councils."
12. Collaborates with program team members to help strategize improvements regarding client/staff member safety that are identified by either an audit or incident within the program.
13. Uses effective communication with clients, peers and other professionals that is sensitive to racial/ethnic/cultural/class backgrounds.

Specialty Responsibilities:
1. Supports All Recovery Pathways that participants might desire exploring.
2. Supports participants to build on their strengths and develop their personal recovery and wellness capital.
3. Supports participants to develop their individual recovery wellness planning.
4. Must be able to carry case load and provide support to participants when the need arises and/ or program staff requires the assistance.
5. Trained as a Peer Specialist and certified as a Peer Specialist to better understand roles and responsibilities.
6. Assists individuals in creating personally meaningful links to treatment, peer recovery support ser-vices, and mutual aid and support them in their efforts to build their capacity to move between and among these services and supports as needed.
7. Maintains professionalism while operating in an open and transparent way as a role model and living example of a person in recovery.

Standard Supervisor Level Responsibilities:
1. Supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
2. Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
3. Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.
4. Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
5. Integrates diversity into departmental objectives, such as hiring, promotions, training, vendor selections, etc.
6. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
7. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, DPH (Department of Public Health) (Department of Public Health), etc. Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
8. Ensures that department complies with hospital established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
9. Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for department.
10. Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
11. Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
12. Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:

Required:

1. High School Diploma/GED/HiSe.
2. Certified Addictions Recovery Coach (CARC) or work towards earning certification. CARC certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
3. Driving is not a requirement.

Preferred:

Experience/Skills:
Required:

1. Experience in supervising Peers or Recovery Coach Supervisor training.
2. Minimum three (3) years of experience providing peer support or equivalent experience in the fields of Substance Use / Addiction / Mental Health.
3. Experience as a Residential Counselor or Recovery Coach Academy (CCAR) training.
4. Must be able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) background check and a DCF/CPS (Department of Families Adam Walsh/Child Protective Services) background check and meet and sustain agency standards for qualifications.
5. Written and oral communication skills.
6. Must be computer literate and have MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to utilize the internet effectively.
7. Must be able to meet deadlines and adhere to strict standards.

Preferred:
1. Working knowledge of Mental Health and Substance Use treatment principles.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
