Job Description

The NSFH Facility Engineering (FE) Subdivision provides oversight to construction subcontractors and ensure customer needs are being met, the as-built configuration of the facility meets the technical and functional requirements, provide cost estimating support for technical change requests, review subcontractor proposals for technical accuracy, and provide oversight of deficiency reporting and resolution. This subdivision is also responsible for the receipt, inspection, planning for installation and execution of installation of the spent fuel handling equipment provided by a separate NNL organization.

The FE Subdivision manager is routinely involved in strategic planning, budgeting, special assignments to solve unique issues, provide strong leadership to the organization and interfacing with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) subcontractor who is the agent for FMP to manage all the construction contractors to ensure the facility is built as designed, with the requisite quality and in safe manner within the cost and schedule baselines.

The FE Subdivision contributes to major cross-functional initiatives and responses to major project issues. Extensive interface with all levels of NNL, Government, Fluor Corporate, and NR leadership will be required.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science and previous management experience; or
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and previous management experience.
Preferred Skills

Leadership experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and handling projects to solve unique issues. Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work with all levels of NNL, Government, Fluor Corporate, and NR leadership.

Pay Range
$154,600.00 - $246,400.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
