The S6G Power Plant Electrical (PPE) unit is looking for a motivated and driven person to join the team supporting the Los Angeles class Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) as the lab director. S6G PPE plays an integral role in supporting the moored training ships and the Los Angeles class ships, which account for half of the U.S Navy's fast attack submarines. The S6G I&C systems perform reactor protection and control safety critical functions, demanding the highest degree of quality and reliability. The unit's responsibilities include providing emergent support to troubleshoot and resolve fleet issues, being subject matter experts on design and operation of the I&C, and supporting technical and programmatic recommendations that usually require the integration of multiple technical disciplines. The CTF plays a critical role in allowing the team to meet its responsibilities. The lab director is responsible for coordinating all work in the CTF to ensure safe operation. This position is also responsible for execution of the CTF budget and schedule of work. Examples of work in the lab in which the lab director supervises includes: qualification and mentoring of system engineers, conducting PCO familiarization visits, troubleshooting I&C equipment problems, maintenance/upgrades to simulation equipment, coordinating the CTF schedule, and setting the overall standard for the CF safety and quality posture. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or SRE qualified and 6 years of experience. Pay Range
$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually
