Every year, the most expensive yet common activity that users of our software at Relativity perform is reviewing documents to find relevant and important information. Billions of documents are analyzed and reviewed every year in Relativity. For more than a decade, Relativity has been the leader in leveraging advanced technologies like AI to improve the document review process and results for our users, but we are just getting started.

We are focused on helping our users discover the truth more quickly and act on data with confidence. Relativity has established a set of AI Principles to guide product development and underscore our commitment to developing responsible AI. These principles include building AI with purpose that delivers value for customers, empowering customers with clarity and control, ensuring fairness in AI development, championing privacy, placing the security of customers' data at the heart of everything we do, and acting with a high
standard of accountability.

Over the past two years we have developed a suite of AI solutions that leverage generative AI. We have branded these as "Relativity aiR" products that are now well known and recognized leading generative AI solutions in our industry. Specifically aiR for Review, aiR for Privilege, and aiR for Case Strategy. aiR for Review and aiR for Privilege use generative AI and other proprietary technologies to help our users review documents for relevance, issues, key information, and privilege content faster, more accurate than other review methods, while providing defensible transparent results. aiR for Case Strategy helps users extract facts, summarize, and take action with their data to prepare for depositions, trial, and arbitrations.

About the AI Team at Relativity
Relativity is heavily invested in developing new AI products and features for our customers. Our team spans across many teams and functions within Relativity Engineering, including our data engineering team, ML Ops team, applied science team, and product-focused feature teams for our RelOne AI suite of products.

About the Director of AI Engineering - Transform Review
The Director of AI Engineering - Transform Review will lead a team responsible for our flagship AI products, including Review Center, aiR for Review, and aiR for Privilege. This role will bring together the architecture and organization, aligning shared concerns related to how we build AI products, and unify the organization so that each product becomes part of a cohesive and consistent solutions that transforms Transform Review as we know it today and redefines the future of document review for Legal industry.

This Leader will accelerate AI innovation at Relativity. They will work closely with their counterparts in Product Management to understand customer needs, evaluate qualitatively and quantitatively workflows and features that will solve the biggest customer challenges, that products we deliver are adopted quickly and deliver value for both Relativity and our customers, and ensure that our AI solutions align with our AI principles and our mission statement at Relativity.

The Transform Review team will consist of 50+ engineers and product leaders focused on automating all aspects of Transform Review for our customers and will guide innovation within these products, guiding their development and growth. This leader will collaborate heavily with leaders in other parts of the AI organization, such as Applied Science, Data Services (data engineering), Search, and other aiR product leaders to maximize our AI investments and outcomes.

Job Description and Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES'

  • Represent Relativity's AI strategy and key product efforts for the flagship aiR products - Review Center, aiR for Review, and aiR for Privelege
  • Own key features, technology functions, and teams within the AI strategy; this ownership will evolve over time as the team grows.
  • Represent Relativity at industry conferences, events, and with customers.
  • Recruit and build a cross-functional AI team (front end, UX, backend, and other support roles) via industry talks, candidate outreach, networking, and partnerships.
  • Lead large initiatives from an investment perspective via clear prioritization, thoughtful resource allocation, attention to detail, and great communication to inspire the team
  • Lead collaboration with our engineering teams, data scientists, and product managers to bring ideas from proof of concept to scaled solution.
  • Prioritize technical investments roadmap and help prioritize tech debt and architecture investments.
  • Mentor talent within the AI engineering team to promote career development, risk taking, innovation, and create a culture of learning.
  • Inspire others with a compelling vision and a plan of how AI technology can transform Relativity.
  • Advise senior company and technology leadership on innovative tech for either partnership or acquisition.
  • Encourage innovation and data curiosity and the use of data at scale.
  • Work with other AI leaders to evolve our AI operating model to be multi-office and global in reach.
  • Develop practices to effectively and efficiently onboard engineers and grow our AI skillsets in the North America and Poland offices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Atleast 10 years of relevant work experience including expertise in AI/ML development, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience building and growing AI products; ideally, experience building generative AI products.
  • Experience leveraging data for knowledge retrieval, search, and ML/AI-based solutions in production environments for mission-critical use cases.
  • Experience building and leading software teams and organizations, key initiatives, and transformation strategies within a global, scaled software organization.
  • Proven leadership skills and track record of delivering complex technical solutions.
  • Experience selecting products, tools, and vendor negotiation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with data science teams with conceptual knowledge on data science project lifecycles and techniques.
  • Experience creating processes and systems to manage data quality.
  • Experience running systems in either AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

PREFERRED QUALFICIATIONS

  • Experience in modern programming languages and compute environments in cloud environments.
  • Experience in a SaaS/Cloud environment with distributed teams and systems.
  • Experience launching new products and guiding their growth in a rapidly changing industry.
  • Experience in machine learning and statistics, including Generative AI and using machine learning APIs.
  • Experience building work class customer experiences in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience within a cloud environment leveraging big data infrastructure, data processing, and data science toolset and cloud-native component selection.
  • Experience leading a geographically split team.

    Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices.

    This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.

    The expected salary range for this role is between following values:

    $195,000 and $293,000

    The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
