To provide technical and project management expertise to lead strategic technology initiatives that are critical to the long-term success of the Company. These initiatives include development of new capabilities through advanced technologies.

Essential Functions

About the Role - Provide technical and project management expertise to support strategic technology initiatives that are critical to the long-term success of FedEx. These initiatives include development of new capabilities or collaboration opportunities in advanced and emerging technologies space, often involving multiple areas of FedEx operations. Responsibilities can range from enterprise forum facilitation to project management to providing technical and analytical input in assessment and application of advanced/emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics and other AI-ML applications) and supporting IT solutions. This includes planning, execution and testing for the implementation of emerging technologies in FedEx operations. Successful candidates will excel at communication and working with technology developers, suppliers, operations, and management teams.

  • Responsibilities include project management.
  • Provide technical and analytical input in assessment and application of advanced technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics and other AI-ML applications) and supporting IT solutions.
  • Planning, execution, and testing of implementation of emerging technologies in operations working with technology developers, suppliers, and operations.
  • Support key multi-year strategic initiatives related to emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics) by providing technical, IT or ecosystem expertise / consultation during planning, development and testing phases
  • Participate in strategic / technical discussions and collaborate in the creation of new ideas / roadmap for future development with cross functional teams, suppliers, vendors, technology developers and operations
  • Map and analyze current operations processes, systems and data flows to assess preparedness for deployment of these new technologies.
  • Coordinate across IT/Marketing/Operations/Legal/Finance for enterprise system integration or application interfaces
  • Support testing activities including test plans and documentation
  • Monitor and assess implications of technological, regulatory, cybersecurity, and public acceptance advancements
  • Keep abreast of industry / competitive trends, technologies and best practices
  • Publish / present technical reports and / or pursue Intellectual property rights where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a broad set of advanced technologies and their applications for transportation and logistics systems. Examples of technologies include robotics, connected and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, Internet-of-Things.
  • Experience in leading strategic, high-visibility projects, including independently developing executive-level presentations and updates.
  • Experience in Design Thinking and Agile/Scrum methodologies, including concept validation / prototype development and testing
  • Knowledge/ experience of IT solutions architecture and development processes a plus
  • Experience in transportation and logistics a plus
  • Understanding of FedEx specific Surface and/or Air station operations
  • Material Handling knowledge (Package flow, Material Handling Design, Electrical and / or Mechanical Engineering, Automation, and/or Processes)
  • Comfort being and seeking subject matter expert(s) for complex operations
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong presentation skills to multiple levels of senior management
  • Ability to work in a team focused environment

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree/equivalent in a business, technical or engineering field.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years' experience facilitating larger programs or multi-function projects, to include providing innovative, forward looking technology leadership, and vision in a practical business environment.

Domicile Information

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $5,369.50 - $10,739.19/month
