DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Data Analyst 2, your role will involve supporting the 911 Office and emergency management initiative by interpreting data to deliver precise and actionable insights that facilitate effective planning and real-time decision-making in emergency situations. Your responsibilities will encompass a thorough understanding of various data collection processes and recommend improvements to these activities; identifying appropriate software tools for analyzing diverse data sources; documenting any biases present in the data; and ensuring the dataset's reliability and credibility.

You will utilize the statewide NG911 Management Information System, the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Portal financial management system, Geographic Information System (GIS) data, and other relevant data sources to conduct statistical analysis. This will include identifying and analyzing trends, measuring key performance indicators, studying 911 call traffic, and providing predictive analyses regarding call volume and public safety answering point workloads.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Free on-site parking is available.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,678.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Data Analytics Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional quantitative analytical experience utilizing data preparation, statistical analysis, or data visualization software programs and a bachelor's degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, data science, economics, actuarial science, geographic information systems (GIS), or a related STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics); Thirty (30) graduate credits in data analytics or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
