Job Summary

Responsible for the system-wide daily workflow, assignments, and functions of the EKG technicians and EPs. Assumes the responsibility of the EKG Manager in absence. Performs various Electrocardiography duties, including EKG's, adult and pediatric Holter scanning, stress testing, vital signs, blood draws, and IV therapy as needed. Assist the Cardiovascular clinics when needed. Ensure accuracy and quality of results by staff for interpreting physicians.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for day-to-day system-wide technical operation of EKG department. Sets and implements daily staff assignments. Assists echo/vascular or clinic when needed.

  • Assists with yearly reviews, competencies, disciplinary action, and in-service programs.

  • Assists in the ordering and maintenance of supplies in the EKG department, making recommendations to enhance operational budget and capital equipment budget efficiency.

  • Assists with monthly department meeting agendas and assumes the responsibility of the EKG Manager in absence.

  • Performs daily and monthly charge balancing, track errors and coach staff.

  • Monitors overdue exams and inform physician/group.

  • Places work orders and tracts equipment issues/concerns.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a supervisor job which may have direct supervision of team members which may include hire/termination authority, disciplinary authority, and performance management responsibilities.May have budget input or responsibilities. Job is not considered a member of management staff.

Minimum Education

  • Education - Associate degree in a related field of study with EKG course. Bachelor's degree in a related field of study preferred.

  • Experience - One (1) year of EKG III or EP experience. Five (5) years of experience preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.

In Lieu Of

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • EKG certification, CCT course and BLS mandatory (a bachelor's degree in a related field may be considered in lieu of certifications).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of all exams (EKG, Holter, stress testing, and cardiovascular sonography)

  • Phlebotomy and IV therapy preferred.
